How ONE compliment changed my self-perception forever.

And why you should always praise who deserves it.

Thread
For years, I struggled to speak English in front of others.

This fear was also reflected in my writing.

I was ashamed of my lack of English fluency both in writing and speaking.

That's why I wrote my content in Spanish and used Google Translate to get the English right.
At first, Tweeting my ideas in English made me nervous.

I became too self-aware of my lack of skill.

So writing in English made this feeling double worse.
And then came the toxic thoughts

• they'll notice my English sucks
• they'll laugh at my typos
• they'll never like my writing

In August 2018, I posted a thread on Twitter about who to follow and why.

That helped me change my self-perception forever.
It was the first time one of my tweets exceeded 50 retweets.

I was high on dopamine.

My first Twitter high.
The tweet made its way onto the feed of someone who would change the course of my content creation career.

Amazing how ONE simple tweet can do that...
That day I met Ryan Felman (@PathToManliness).

Who saw, liked, and retweeted the thread.

He also replied to it.

His words cured me of my years-long curse of toxic self-criticism.

Here's what he said...
He tweeted, "Great thread, Jose. Greatly written."

I replied, "You know, I'm usually terrified to write in English. It's my biggest obstacle. Your words just hit the right notes. Thank you."

He replied back, "You write better English than most native English speakers."
After that day, I wrote all of my content in English – no more Google Translate for you handsome Latino Tweeter.
See, nobody knows how to react to a compliment because it is rarely given.

Nevertheless, make sure to compliment those who deserve it.

Because complimenting someone takes you 5 seconds.

And changing someone's life is a memory you will carry forever.
If you liked the thread, feel free to Retweet the first tweet 🙏

When my wife and I got married in 2012, I told her, "Brenda, I took you out of your castle to live under a rock. I will find a way to build ourselves a castle that we can fill with children and good memories."

But I failed to keep my promise.

Until...

My wife's family is well off economically.

Her dad is the Executive Manager of a very important company owned by the richest man in the Dominican Republic.

Her mom is a Dentist...

...and you know what they say about dentists.
When Brenda and I were dating, she used to pick me up in her big Totoya SVU.

Meanwhile, I used public transportation to visit her.

On occasion, he would walk home and arrive drenched in sweat.

(At least I know she married me for my fantastic Latino looks and not my money)

How a broke family man built a multi-six-figure business writing tweets from a Spanish-speaking third country using Google Translate to get the English right.

A thread on how ONE tweet changed my life.
"One last try,” I said to myself in October 2018.

It was the last time I would try to make money online.

By the end of that month, I had made $4K+ using Twitter.

Fast-forward to 2019.

I had already turned Twitter into 6-figure biz.

But how?
I'm just a regular dude.

I don't have any special powers.

For years, I tried to make money online.

I gave up many times.

Until I finally cracked the code.

Heres' what I did.

Who is Naura Hayden and why did she miss a unique opportunity to sell 2.3 million copies of her book?

\\ Thread
In 1982, Naura Hayden released a book called Astro-logical Love.

She printed 5000 copies but only sold 2000.

It flopped hard.

Read on to learn why...
The title didn't convey the value of this book.

It wasn't persuasive. It wasn't eye-catching.

I mean, what does Astro-logical Love means?

Is she talking about love affairs with Aliens?

Is it a mystical romance novel for women?

Or is it something else?

Nobody knew.
