I never thought I would be able to grow my newsletter to 11K subscribers – especially writing in a 2nd language

I launched my list to make money

But it became something more meaningful: a way to put my consciousness in writing.

So if you're looking to grow your list, read on!
Tip 1. Never send emails you wouldn't like to receive yourself.
2. Promote your list every day on your social media.
3. Bribe people to join – give them a freebie to get them excited to hit the subscribe button.
4. When you start a new email list, send an email to all your contacts asking them to join.
5. Email marketing isn't the same as an Email List / Newsletter.

Email marketing is to sell.

Email List is to provide value.
6. If you have a blog, end each post with a call to action to join your list.
7. Tweet gone viral? Promote your list.
8. Forget about subscriber count. Focus on writing and providing value.
9. Create an email sequence.

1st email - Set expectations
2nd - Tell your story
3rd - Give away more free stuff
4th - Teach something
5th - Teach more
6th - Tell them to ask you one question

Create this once. Let it run on auto-pilot
10. Ask your readers to forward the email to someone who might need it.

11. Stick to 3-5 topics. That's how you become an authority in these fields.
12. Break the pattern. Break tip #11. It's ok to send a quick thought to your list once in a while.
13. Treat your subscribers with respect.
14. Try to reply to emails your subscribers send you.
15. Write to refine and simplify your thinking.
16. One email. One BIG idea. Keep your emails simple.
17. When you're running out of ideas, send the following email.

Subject:
Jose​, ask the one question you've been meaning to ask me

Body:
The right answer to a question can change everything. Please reply to this email with the one question you've been meaning to ask me.
18. Learn as much as you can from your subscriber. Hop on Zoom calls with them to understand their pain and goals if you have to.
19. Make your email list landing page clear. It should answer the question, "Why should I care" for anyone who visits it.
20. Add social proof to your email list's landing page.

- video testimonials
- subscriber count
21. Ask your new subscribers to add your email to their contact list and to drag your emails to their inbox.
22. Stick to a schedule. Train your readers to expect an email on the same day and time.
23. Tell stories

- Client success stories
- Your stories of failure and success

Stories are what humanity is based on
24. When you're starting out, send at least a bi-weekly email. Don't overcomplicate it.
25. Don't feel bad for sending short, 250-word emails.

Quality > Quantity.
26. To monetize your email list, you must first provide value.
27. When you're selling, feel free to send more than one email in one day.
28. Learn to write subject lines.
29. Learn to write persuasive first lines.
