Those who have hold or influence with the masses and the party become leaders.
They should not dictate just because of their massive influence. They are to share responsibility with others.
A functional democracy should prevail for evolving right decisions through discussions.
/1
Though such processes were there, there were also attempts by overambitious politicians to disproportionately influence, change, disrupt majority decisions by fomenting disaffection, divides and exploiting inherent or imposed insecurities and ignorance of the people.
/2
This was invariably so when the power shift happens; when leaders see scope for usurping power.
Indira experienced it when she was elected by the party to lead the country. The senior leaders wanted to exercise influence beyond their weight. But one has to earn people’s trust.
/3
The power centre in Congress shifted from Sonia to Rahul over a decade.

Sonia was more in touch with leaders and less with people directly. Rahul was doing the legwork. He was in contact with party cadres; listened to them. He knows the actions needed to rejuvenate Congress.
/4
When Sonia distanced herself due to health, age factor, Rahul was entrusted the responsibility and occupied the centre stage.

This power shift was always imminent but still objections, apprehensions erupted from superannuated in-house warriors on ventilators with assistants.
/5
It is to be noted here that it was not only the power shift from Sonia to Rahul but also the shift of power from groups that occupied the centre stage slowly yielding to a new support group with whom Rahul was finding his wavelength & identity of views for executing his plans.
/6
So the collective democratic decision-making process shifted from one group to another.
The old set of leaders wanted status quo or ‘democratic disruptions’.
While Rahul respected leaders, he knew the urgent need for rejuvenation of Congress and inducting fresh talents.
/7
The power shifted to Rahul but not effectively as leaders are choking the process or the changes.
Some have spoken but many have not. They do not have a hold but unwilling to concede space.
Hopefully, after the election of the INC President, it will move on the right track.

The blames, criticisms, insults, indignities piled on the Nehru Gandhi family are unlimited. This is in spite of their sacrifices, two with their own lives in service of our country and people.
In this land of dharmas, values and truth, 'yudhs' are also waged against them.
/1
Even if purely political it is way too unethical and totally unjustified.
But it is not always political forces but the vested interests with ulterior motives, agendas corrupting the minds of innocents and ignorants with jealousy, prejudices but bereft of truth, logic, reason.
/2
The only fault of the Nehru, Gandhi family or the ‘dynasty’ as they call them, is their care and concern for the country, its people and their continued connectivity, bonding with people, the response, respect they get from them.
This hurts and blocks few vested interests.

Anyone becoming a part of a family is accidental. It just happens. It is also true for Gandhi family.
When they are elected by a party or people they are dynasts, but not others.
It is unfair and contradictory to call India the largest democracy and Gandhi family a ‘dynasty’.
/1
Rajiv, Sonia were not keen but Indira needed their support so made entry. Nehru carefully avoided indicating his successor. It was only the destiny that decided the course, not the ‘dynasty’.
In a democracy everything is possible. A seller of tea or lies can become a dictator.
/2
What matters is how the leader concerned functions whether as a democrat or a dynast or a dictator.

In a truly functional democracy, there cannot be a dynast or dictator if its independent institutions freely, fairly discharge their duty professionally safeguarding democracy.

The cancer cells of Hindutva were reared, nurtured in the Hindutva lab of Gujarat in 2002. They could easily identify, produce and deploy 2 ‘gems’ now ruling the country. They can rub, cut, tear, shear anyone and anything. These ‘robots’ are made and meant to be heartless.
/1
RSS needed a mask of Vajpayee. But they removed the mask way back in 2002 for their experiments in Gujarat.
The virus naturally does not need a mask as it is counterproductive when its agenda is to exponentially grow into a full-blown communally divisive, destructive disease.
/2
Incidentally & accidentally India had a breathing space between NDA 1 and 2. Otherwise, the transition to fascism would have been complete long back.

It takes time to groom villains as heroes. They needed an incubation period & carriers like Anna Hazare to spread the disease.

It is really incomprehensible and unrealistic for Modi, Shah to tolerate all efforts needed to keep up with this farce of democracy, elections, campaigning, seeking votes, when the Kingdom with all powers are in their hands with people begging for mercy & are ready to oblige.
/1
They are expending all their patience to wait unjustifiably for the total conversion into a fascist state. But they are quite adept at adapting to all situations.
They are trying to manage with their version of Democracy or Realpolitik, based on practicality not on morality.
/2
Modi, Shah are shrewd enough to understand that when they are in the business of democracy, they are to push right buttons at the right time to make optimum use of resources to manufacture majority.
They cannot be in a hurry as they are to deal with people in addition to EVMs.

We cannot yet say the countdown of Modi’s fascist regime has begun. It has not acquired the necessary pace, force, momentum to set the time schedule.

Some signals are available about Modi losing grip over his power and its misuse. That is the beginning of the end of fascism.
/1
Much hope for the opposition parties was not due to their own efforts but due to failures, arrogance, the overconfidence of Modi regime, the usual traits of a fascist.

The first turning point that emerged over the last 7 years was the peaceful democratic protest against CAA.
/2
But Covid gave some breathing space to Modi regime and the movement lost its momentum.
The hopes again revived and kept alive by farmers’ protests when the election schedule and the recent 2nd wave of Covid stole some of its limelight.
But the ruthlessness of rulers continued.

Rahul is repeatedly emphasising on various platforms the need for discussions, interactions, negotiations. This is almost totally neglected, absent.
It gives primacy to the merit of the issues, not individuals. This is the need of the hour and a democratic right of the people.
/1
Most of the misunderstanding, disputes, issues are due to the absence of continuous dynamic discussions with a focus to eliminate points of irrelevance and consolidate views, evolve solutions with consensus or majority opinion. We are not enlightening people but burning homes.
/2
Rahul has turned the pages of Congress history, reverted to its principles and Gandhi’s call to look inwards.
It is very sane and wise to adopt this approach by all, irrespective of the party, groups they belong.
But those who thrive on confusions, divisions will reject them.
