Hill’s outburst: “Maybe if (Dems) spent some of that effort ‘fighting for the voiceless’ waiting to see the sex of the unborn maybe we wouldnt kill so many bab- people in this state." What is insurrectionist Hill talking about here? (And sidebar: why hasn’t he been arrested yet?)
Hill argued Dem leaders should spend their time, not fighting for children, but advocating for “the unborn people”— showing us that Republicans are more obsessed with controlling pregnant people’s bodies than they care at all for actual children living in our state. #LetKidsPlay
Hill argued we should prevent abortions by forcing pregnant people “to see the sex of the unborn.” What is he talking about? In fact Missouri is one of 11 states that has passed a ban on abortion by sex. (This passed with HB126 in 2019 but was blocked before it was implemented)
Such “sex-selective abortion bans” are based on racist tropes (and a long history of reproductive oppression and coercion) & stigmatize pregnant people of color who seek abortions by questioning the motivation behind their abortion decision.
In practice, these bans would require providers to perpetuate racism against their patients. And those most targeted by these bans: Asian Americans.
At a time when racism & violence against AAPI Americans is at a high point in our country, MO State Rep Justin Hill is using his platform to perpetuate further racism against AAPI pregnant people, all during a “debate” on the inherent dignity of trans children (Not up for debate)
Here’s what else is not up for debate: ✔️Justin Hill is unfit to serve.
✔️While Missourians struggle for basic health coverage and support during a pandemic, #MOGOP leaders are only concerned with legislating our children’s genitalia & controlling pregnant people’s bodies.
