As a young teenage Christian, I used to go with a crew on preaching runs from Mile 2 to CMS. We'll take turns to stand in Molue Buses to preach the gospel of Christ. Not once did we think what we were doing was violating the rights of other passengers. We felt entitled to do it.

We felt the gospel of Jesus was too important that it was worth interrupting the lives of others to save them. It didn't matter whether they wanted to hear what we had to say or agreed it with it, we felt a force bigger than them had granted us permission to assault their day.

Never did it occur to us that we can preach the gospel and at the same time respect the rights of others not to be disturbed by it. It's the same mindset that makes some believe they can invade a community with megaphones to preach early in the morning or place speakers outdoors.

1. We go to seminars and conferences looking for a painless cure by which our lives can be zapped & changed. We go on diets. We join health clubs and our enthusiasm runs strong for about two weeks. Then we fall back into the same old rut. We don’t change. We read self-help books,

2...but the problem with self-help books is that they tell us what to do but can’t give us the power to do it. We are told things like: ‘Get rid of all your bad habits. Be positive; don’t be negative.’ But how? Where do we get the power to change? The word ‘power’ occurs 57 times

When You Don’t Understand

Get a ‘preparation perspective’

The more comfortable you feel in an apartment, the more likely it is that you will not lock the bathroom door when bathing. You can't be more vulnerable than being in the bathroom stark naked, taking a bath and not caring if someone opens the door. #Vulnerability

Why? Because you trust that those around you understand your need for privacy, your need to be vulnerable and your need not be afraid. Breaking the confidence of those who trust you to keep their secrets secret is equivalent of bursting in on someone while bathing. #Vulnerability

Unfortunately, many have experienced this in one form or another and it's the reason they're always on guard, refusing to trust anyone
