While it's 13 minutes until arraignment, Maxwell's lawyers have gone into the cell block to the side of the courtroom, to meet with her. U.S. Marshals prepare two chairs to set behind her when she'd brought in
Drum roll: Three US Attorney's Office prosecutors in the front tables, two defense lawyers at the second table with a seat between them for Maxwell. And here she is: Ghislaine Maxwell in a light blue prison shirt and black face mask, sipping water
Ghislaine Maxwell picks up a handset to speak with her lawyer as if by phone - sitting six (maybe four) feet away. COVID restrictions.
For those asking, Ghislaine Maxwell's hair is longer than when last she was seen. The courtroom deputy is preparing the bench for Judge Nathan. Two minutes later so far, but who's counting
Maxwell and her lawyer are having another side by side phone call. Arraignments are usually tightly choreographed rituals. Hard to imagine what's still undecided at this point. Soon enough.
All rise!
Judge Alison J. Nathan: "You may call the case."
US v. Ghislaine Maxwell, 20-cr-330.
Speaking for the government... Maurene Comey.
Judge Nathan reads the script of new Rule 5f, Due Process Protection Act. Preliminaries almost over.
Judge Nathan: Ms Maxwell, have you received a copy of the indictment?
Maxwell: I have, your Honor.
Defense lawyer: Not guilty.
Judge Nathan: There are requests to postpone the trial to later in the year. I am looking into it and will decide soon. But for now, assume July 12. I see the government agreed to make expert disclosures today. I'm fine with that.
AUSA Comey: Nothing more from the government.
Maxwell's lawyer: May I have a moment?
Now 2d lawyer: On the motion in limine schedule, it is dependent on the various disclosure dates that the defense has requested.
Judge Nathan: You're seeking 4 weeks?
A: Yes.
AUSA Comey: Assuming the trial goes forward July 12, we propose to disclose 45 days before that.
Judge Nathan: How about 7 weeks?
AUSA Comey: We want to be thorough.
Judge Nathan: I'm thinking of splitting the difference. Assuming July 12, this is the schedule.
AUSA Comey: We would make a first production 7 weeks out. But there may be some after, and supplemental motions.
Judge Nathan: OK, we're adjourned.
That's it.

Update 1: at 2:50 pm, Ghislaine Maxwell has already been taken out of the courtroom by the Marshals.
Update 2: David Boies just spoke to us reported by the elevators on 24th floor. After some comments on severing perjury from sex trafficking, he said Ghislaine Maxwell looked better than she had on the Zoom call (that the press and public didn't see). Now outside

OK - now @SDNYLIVE sentencing of Akayed Ullah, for a pipe bomb partially detonated by Port Authority on Dec 11, 2017. Inner City Press will live tweet, thread below:
The sentencing judge is Richard J. Sullivan. He's now on the 2d Circuit Court of Appeals, but still handles cases he had when he was elevated to the appeals court. He asks the US Attorney's Office if there are any victim who wish to speak in today's proceeding.
Judge Sullivan: Mr Ullah, have you had a chance to review the Pre-Sentencing Report with your report?
Ullah: Yes, Your Honor [in English]

Q: Is this case being run by Golden Spring New York?
Guo: I'm invoking the 5th Amendment.
OK - now #insurrectionBlues detention hearing of Charles Donohoe before DDC Magistrate Judge Harvey. AUSA is seeking "continuing threat." Inner City Press will live tweet, thread below. Song: soundcloud.com/innercitypress…
Judge Harvey: I've read Judge Kelly's ruling. But distinguishing this defendant from the others, I think I have a good grasp on. Are you arguing risk of flight?
AUSA: No. We argue danger to the community. There is a rebuttal presumption - and the 1361 crime
AUSA: In the wake of the Proud Boys chairman for behavior in December, Donohoe stepped forward --
Judge Harvey: Leader is one of the things in my mind. You say he was a president of the chapter of a city in NC.
OK - another #insurrectionBlues case, US v. Richard Lee Harris. He is represented by the public defenders not in DC but in South Florida (seemingly, to relieve pressure on DC staff). Inner City Press will live tweet, thread below. Song: soundcloud.com/innercitypress…
The South Florida public defenders say they are not prepared to do the arraignment today. They says Speedy Trial Act claim has not begun, as he's not in the District and he not been arraigned yet. Asks for delay in arraignment.
Judge Nichols: Sounds fine.
AUSA: OK
AUSA: He's scheduled to move from Oklahoma (transfer station) to DC next week.
[Note: movement of Federal prisoners, for example from Florida to DC, goes through Oklahoma... This has come up in @sdnylive cases]
OK - Guo Wengui (Bannon) trial, Day 3, with Yvette Wong still on the stand, Guo on deck, at least on the list. Inner City Press is covering the case innercitypress.com/sdny6elimanguo… and will live tweet, thread below
Outside the @sdnylive courthouse there are two dozen Guo supporters. A witness in this case wrote in and characterized them as thugs "surfing" Chinatown looking for people to beat up. Yet in the gallery as the trial began there was only Inner City Press
Q: Mr. Guo wanted an a-la-carte payment system, each payment per report?
Wong: That was what I negotiated with Ms. Wallop.
Q: Let's explore the water-line concept. Ms. Wallop wanted monthly payments to keep teams in the field, right?
Wong: Only if qualified teams.
OK - @SDNYLIVE sentencing of Tony Hernandez, brother of Honduras' President Juan Orlando Hernandez is beginning. Inner City Press reported on his trial (and that of Geovanny Fuentes) innercitypress.com/sdnylive9chond… and will live tweet, thread below
Judge Castel: I have reviewed letters from the defendant's family, friends, and others.
Defense lawyer: Mr. Hernandez wants the Court to know that he is not prepared to go forward today.
Judge Castel: The jury convicted him in October 2019. It has been delayed.
Judge Castel: The time has come for the defendant to be sentenced. He has had in hand the pre-sentence report since February 12, 2020 - over a year ago, and before the shut down of the pandemic. I am not inclined to adjourn the sentencing further.
