Fauci says the US will try to help India deal with its record-breaking Covid surge. "It is a dire situation that we're trying to help in any way we can."
“We have a long standing commitment to India’s public health,” adds a White House rep.
Seems like there’s still some confusion about this. Covishield production not impacted by US exports restrictions. That’s for Covovax.

18 Indian Army soldiers died in an ambush by an outlawed group 5 years ago. This group had received supplies and support from a neighbouring country, and at least some of its leaders are known to be sheltered in this same country.
Guess the country.

It’s China.
In June 2015, soldiers of 6 Dogra Regt died in an ambush in Manipur’s Chandel district.
Army’s SF responded by conducted raids on militant camps in Myanmar. The opening scene of Vicky Kaushal’s Uri depicts a cinematic version of that ops, but I digress.

The attack was claimed by United National Liberation Front of Western South East Asia (UNLFW), a group of nine militant groups led by NSCN-K and the Paresh Baruah's ULFA faction.

For a good half and hour or more @republic TV and their reporter @aishkapoor passed off the shooter as the ‘real face of anti-CAA’ protests.
“How much violence do we have to watch and how much inconvenience do people need to keep facing.” @republic TV anchor portraying the shooter as an anti-CAA protester seeking attention.
"Jamia protestor uses gun" @republic ran this for at least half an hour. Didn't see any correction or apology.

Brig Devinder Singh is a hero who was wronged.
Misrepresentation of his battle performance cost him a war medal and possibly led to his being passed over for promotion as Major-General. May have even missed a shot at becoming army chief because of internal politics. (Thread)
The Armed Forces Tribunal upheld claims that top commanders (including then GOC 15 Corps, Lt Gen Pal) falsified accounts of battles in the Batalik sector, where Brig Devinder Singh was operating and in command. Here's my report from May 2010 when the order was made public.
"In April 1999, Lieutenant-General Pal dismissed warnings emerging from a war game, which suggested that a Kargil-like intrusion could take place. Brigadier Singh played a key role in the war game; his appraisal was proved correct." - @praveenswami in 2010.
