2) Keep in mind Delhi has some of the best hospitals in all of India. Most of the hospitals sending Sos and getting in TV are wealthy private hospitals. Public hospitals for the poor... you can imagine.
3) Again, Batra Hospital is one of the premiere private hospitals in Delhi for the rich. Here is the reality for the non-rich... it’s been long over for the public hospitals for the lay public....
4) Now get ready for some completely fraudulent BS from Indian health ministry... they touted a scientifically unproven “cure” for COVID—if the photo doesn’t look like an endorsement, I don’t know what is.

Then guess what, the company bragged it was WHO endorsed too...
5) Meanwhile somehow the claim that cure went unchecked within india 🇮🇳 for a while until the WHO had to **issue a statement via Twitter** that any such “acceptance” or cerificafion from @WHO was false!
6) The Indian Medical Association was completely pissed off at the Indian health minister and staff for touting the unproven purported product with no evidence.

Sound familiar? (Cough, hydroxychloroquine, cough)
7) then the ruling party of India (of Modi) declares COVID fight is over and they were victorious.
8) When shit started hitting the fan... India started then blaming people for being careless.

9) But then let’s go back to boasting about the crowds of people after blaming people.
10) Fast forward one month... deaths soaring. But mostly unreported, except for diligent journalists like @muradbanaji who helps tabulate the huge divergence of locally observed funeral cremation pyres versus official death counts.
11) So when you see India “official” death statistics... know you’re seeing likely just the underreported counts. This curve doesn’t include most of the unreported local cremations. That is India 🇮🇳 crisis in just 2 months recapped.
12) when the reporter @Saurabh_Unmute asks what will happen now... and the doctor says “make alternative arrangements”....

If you are a COVID-denier and still cannot have empathy for those suffering COVID... please go away.
13) Supposedly with all oxygen depleted... Indian 🇮🇳 govt finally decides to do some mild red tape cutting by pausing import taxes on oxygen and oxygen accessories.

Ummmm... how about you should have done that like 2 months ago when cases were already rising?!?!

16) World needs vaccines. So why can’t Biden WH send US vaccines immediately abroad? Because the current vaccines are from Trump WH contracts that specifically prohibit export.

Only the new Biden WH ordered vaccines can be shipped abroad—coming in May.
17) As people are dying... there is a new crisis of undercounting all the dead.
18) India is now short on oxygen, vaccines, testing, PPEs, wood for cremation, and space for graves. Did I miss anything? ?

2) it sounds batshit crazy but it’s real.

Mr. Adityanath asserted that there was no shortage of oxygen supply in any COVID-19 hospital – private or government-run – but that the actual problem was blackmarketing and hoarding.

2) younger adults, many of whom only recently became eligible for vaccines, now make up a higher share of total hospitalizations. But the number of people in their 30s and 40s hospitalized with Covid-19 nationally has also increased somewhat since March, says CDC.
3) Hospitalizations among younger people have been up most notably in the Great Lakes states, with rises seen as well in the Mid-Atlantic.

2) The Indian government asked social media platform Twitter (TWTR.N) to take down dozens of tweets, including some by local lawmakers, that were critical of India’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak, as cases of COVID-19 again hit a world record.
3) Twitter has withheld some of the tweets after the legal request by the Indian government, a company spokeswoman told Reuters.

The government made an emergency order to censor the tweets, Twitter disclosed on Lumen database, a Harvard University project.
