/ Thoughts after a week of ICU:
If you know any frontline staff, show them some love. Morale is mixed but some are really struggling. So if you know a RT, RN, physio, PSW, call or send a message. It’s needed.
/ Despite age, our ICUs #COVID19 pts almost exclusively have poor metabolic health. It’s been a sobering reminder to stay active and to eat healthy.
/ None of our ICU pts were vaccinated. If you have questions about vaccines please reach out to a HCP. Get informed. HCPs when asked, be patient and empathetic.
/ Common thread among our pts, ties to essential workers, multigenerational homes & prolonged indoor exposure. I still haven’t seen a pt tied to outdoor transmission.
/ The road to recovery is long. I’m not seeing too many success stories of late. Let’s continue to abide by PH recommendations, support EWs and get vaccinated.
/ Many pts are being transferred from the #GTA. This is challenging times for many families. Once again be empathetic and be kind. Also props to the transport teams. They’re doing incredible work!
/ Props to our covid ward staff. Unbelievable work y’all are doing on the wards. Acuity has obviously increased but y’all still have provided exceptional care. Proud of you guys.
/ Stay safe everyone. It’s a tough time but we’ll get through this. We are on the better half of this.
Thanks 🙏🏿
