1. YOUR RESUME & COVER LETTER
- Use a one-page resume for Tech jobs (<5 yrs experience) ✅
- Your Cover letter should have same template as your resume 💌
- Have an awesome LinkedIn profile. Employers ask for LinkedIn URLs
- For free resume templates, continue reading
2. JOB APPLICATION
- I use @LinkedIn for 80% of applications, others are referrals 😊
- Target companies that have fewer applicants & recent openings
- Don’t limit your search to your country ❌
- Use LinkedIn "Easily apply" feature to apply to jobs quickly (5 jobs in 5 mins)
3. GETTING REFERRALS
- Your network is very important especially on LinkedIn 🌍
- Connect with professionals in your field or companies you want to work in
- I’ve gotten several voluntary referrals from LinkedIn -managers reaching out to see if I was interested in opportunities
4. WAIT FOR FEEDBACK
- Waiting can be the hardest part. From my experience, it typically takes a few hours to 2 weeks to receive feedback. If they take longer, don’t hope so much 🥲
- Rejection mails are a part of the process. If you get one, Move tf on 👍
5. WAIT FOR FEEDBACK (contd.)
- If you aren’t getting any +ve response, you might want to re-evaluate your strategy
- Have other professionals in your field (not general career coaches 🚫) look over your resume & implement their feedback
6. INTERVIEWS
- For Tech roles, interviews can be 2 - 6 stages 😩
HR Screening ➡️ Technical Assessments ➡️ Hiring Mgr interview ➡️ Stakeholders interview ➡️ Final interview before offer
- Stages vary from company to company 🏢
7. INTERVIEWS (contd.)
- Don't think you've gotten the job after an interview. Apply to more. Remember that companies have other candidates they are considering 🙃
- Never say you want 💰💰 when asked for compensation in interviews except you’re forced to. Made that mistake a lot
8. ADDITIONAL TIPS
- Have accomplishment statements on your resume 💯
- Apply to Senior roles if you meet 70% of the criteria
- Tech companies promote their employees fast. So even with 2-4 years experience, you can be a Lead Data Analyst or Senior Software Developer 😉
9. ADDITIONAL TIPS (contd.)
- For recent graduates, try volunteering, internships or working on personal projects to gain experience 🤝
- Speak up. Showcase what you do. Your projects and portfolio get you in the door faster. Believe me, it has worked wonders for me 🗣️
10. ADDITIONAL TIPS (contd.)
- I also apply to jobs at night & on weekends. Not sure if that’s a thing. Lol
- I don't edit my resumes for jobs I apply to - except changing the title to suit what the company wants
- Also try networking and applying to smaller companies 🫂
11. ADDITIONAL TIPS (contd.)
- Interviews don’t take me more than 30 mins - 1 hour to prepare for except the technical interviews. I’ll do a thread on it 🔜
- Lastly, I live in North America & there are opportunities here. So, you can consider applying to remote jobs here ✌🏽

Lmao. While rounding up this thread, I got a mail saying I've moved to the Hiring Manager stage for one of the interviews from the previous week 😉. We move. Still have a case study to work on for another company this week.
I also created an infographic for this exact thread on my Instagram page using @figmadesign if you prefer to look at pictures 😊.
Just got another “Next step” email from one of the interviews last week 🥲. We move 🥳. My week is already booked again. I’ve a panel interview later today with one of the largest mortgage firms in N. America.
Guess who’s on Investopedia learning about types of mortgages atm 😂

Lowkey. I just got another LinkedIn connection from the Co-founder of a global tech company whose software is being used in over 150 countries and 30,000 organizations. Of course, I’ve accepted the request 💕. Use your LinkedIn well if you’re serious about career advancement 📈.
LinkedIn should be your priority if you’re a professional. Forget Twitter and Instagram. Check my @LinkedIn profile activity, you’ll see I comment and post every other day. Well, enough said. Watch out for info on the video from @datatechspace LinkedIn session last weekend.
My day was awesome yesterday. Hosted our Linkedin Profile review session with @MaryseAnalyse & @tu_babs for @DataTechSpace fam & others outside DTS. @wbezeani was awesome with the notes @sustainablyally did amazing with answering some questions as you’ll see in this THREAD.
1. A Profile banner makes you stand out right away 2. Let people know simply what you’re about in the header 3. The "About" section should be more personal and authentic
2/10
4. "Interviews are like acting." Play your part well 5. Personal branding is vital & @canva should be your best friend for that 6. For Work Experience,
Quantify what you’ve done. Show how you solved a problem, what tools used & the results (e.g percentages, numbers etc.)
