🐢👙The 'tortoise approach' might be the answer to getting trim

telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness…
👙 Compared to those photos of glistening bikini-clad models, obesity expert @drnickfuller’s interval weight loss strategy is a touch less glamorous. But that’s the point.

📉 If you started following it today, you’d only have lost a maximum of 2kgs (4.4lbs) by the end of July
His programme is divided into four-week cycles:

⭐ Week 1 ⭐

You aim to lose nothing in order to “wash out” any effects of a diet or over-eating

⭐ Week 2 ⭐

You aim to lose 2kg

⭐ Week 3 ⭐

You aim to maintain your weight

⭐ Week 4 ⭐

You aim to lose another 2kg
His theory is that you need to lose weight gradually in order not to trigger the survival mechanisms your body has evolved over the years which eventually lead to weight gain over time
"There are physiological changes that happen within a person’s body when they lose weight. Your metabolism will go down. Your appetite hormones will change, telling you to eat more. And all of these systems work against you to take you back to your starting weight, and beyond"
📈 Studies pitch the number of dieters who end up gaining more weight than they lost in the initial stages at around 90%

Between 22 - 49% have experienced weight gain during lockdown and that weight gain was more prevalent among people who were already overweight or obese
🧠 “We have to tell people to stop what they’re doing because they’re ending up in a worse-off position, not only physically because of the weight regain, but the psychological ramifications that come with dieting and food restriction are enormous"
⭐ During the “weight loss” months ⭐
⭐ During “weight-maintenance” months ⭐

📌 Social distancing

📏 While the Government is confident that restrictions on meeting others will cease on June 21, it appears likely that some form of social distancing will stay in place.

Pubs have warned that if distancing rules stay in place, it will be a disaster
🍻Venues that rely on full houses to profit are awaiting results of the Gov review into the 1m distancing rule.

🇮🇳 India has set a new global record for Covid infections.

People are dying on the streets and hospitals are running out of oxygen.

India's crisis is one of the worst the world has yet seen.

📈But how did the second wave get this bad?

@Sophcoe_ explains👇
📅 In March India's health minister said it was in the “endgame” of the pandemic.

They held cricket games and religious festivals, all largely maskless.

Now India is in the thrall of one of the worst outbreaks to date

@jriggers and @sneweyy report 👇

😁 It boosts our mood

There is a link between sunlight and our serotonin levels – the hormone that makes us feel happy.
