First up in #EPlenary this morning, we debate the EU COVID-19 certificate.
This will be a temporary tool to help European citizens travel safely and freely again, while protecting their data privacy and avoiding new restrictions.
Restrictions are having significant effects on EU citizens.
The COVID-19 certificates could be the starting point for a real European response to free movement for people vaccinated, with a negative test or having recovered from the virus.
The pandemic is far from over but the increasing number of people being vaccinated is good news.
💪 With a common COVID-19 certificate in all Member States by the summer, all EU citizens would be able to cross borders for family reasons, for work or for tourism.
“We need to put in place the EU COVID-19 certificate to re-establish people’s confidence when exercising their right to free movement while we continue to fight against the COVID pandemic”.
As we start our farewell ceremony for our @LabMEPs, we want to thank them and their staff for the hard work they carried out over more than 45 years.
This is not a goodbye, it’s an au revoir. Our progressive fight doesn’t stop here.
Our President @IratxeGarper opens the ceremony in honour of @LabMEPs
We’ll continue to fight together for a better, more sustainable and more social world. We as progressives can do more and will do more, together with all of you, with a strong Labour Party.
It’s a sad day for Europe and for our socialist family. If our generation saw how walls could be brought down, this generation will have to do more to protect what we have.
Be aware that this is still your home. We’ll continue to fight together. @EP_President to @LabMEPs
