Do we have a political leader like Rahul with such a rare combination of positive qualities? How can one ignore?
Let us list some of them here.
He speaks from the heart frankly, openly without inhibitions.
He talks about inadequacies of Congress; says it must change radically.
/1
Rahul admits some differences, dissatisfaction among leaders; insists on discussions ensuring democratic space, culture within.
He does not see anyone as a threat or enemy if they raise questions, but still respects & loves them. He even loves Modi and registers it with a hug.
/2
There is no hesitation on his part to speak truth even if it politically hurts him.
He is fervently and consistently raising his voice against fascist Modi regime.
Rahul says he will speak his mind even if he was to fight all alone against Modi, BJP, RSS till his last breath.
/3
Quoting his own words: “I personally fought the Prime Minister, the RSS and the institutions they have captured with all my being. I fought because I love India. I fought to defend the ideals India was built upon. At times, I stood completely alone & am extremely proud of it,”
/4
Rahul is so simple, humble, gentle, warm mixing with people, easily conversing and eagerly listening to them, not artificially but very intently to understand their views and learn about their predicaments and limitations while making them very comfortable to speak their mind.
/5
He exhibits the same respect, intent in his interactions with all whether they are poor, rich, students, cadres, leaders, professors, economists, media.

Rahul absolutely does not resort to any political gimmicks, lies, hypes despite all kinds of verbal, media assaults on him.
/6
Rahul makes no compromises with truth and sense. He allows others the space to choose their path and do what they think as right.

He believes in discussions, interactions, negotiations to convince others about what is true and right. He does not impose his views on anyone.
/7
He does take political decisions to perform his duty he is expected to or entrusted with as a leader.
He is honest in his opinion, decisions without indulging in cheap tricks and antics.
His dealings with political leaders are straight though he does not get the same response.
/8
Rahul firmly believes that the political influence and service to society is not necessarily related to power and position and cites Gandhi as an example.

He has a deep understanding of history and philosophy of Indian cultures and society. They influence his path, direction.
/9
Further, Rahul now has almost the total backing of Congress cadres, leaders, supporters, sympathisers.
The presence of Congress and its influence among the people is still large and wide.
It is foolish to talk of Congress-mukt Bharat. They can never ignore Congress, Rahul.
/10
Despite all these highly positive factors rarely seen in a political leader, large sections of people that includes INC leaders, cadres, supporters having doubts, fears about his political success.

Rahul is not going to fail. If he does, it is more a failure of the people.

No one can stop Rahul from taking over as Congress President again if he agrees to it. Even if he does not agree, his political control over the party, people will not diminish in any way.

He talked about the drastic changes required in Congress. He will make it a reality.
/1
His steady, steadfast approach, clarity and firmness on issues do indicate that Rahul is going to go ahead with his plans of rejuvenating congress come what may.

He continued with it even after his resignation as INC President. Why will he dilute his plans now?
/2
When drastic changes are to be effected they should be carefully planned and executed.
It is not easy to change the mindset of people habituated to a process or system.
One has to wait for the idea to settle in their minds and the political weather becoming conducive for it.

We love reading about the heroic achievements of Gandhiji and other heroes.
Gandhiji’s followers were not experimenting with truth like him. But they were experiencing the truth and enjoying that path.
Rahul is following Gandhiji’s footsteps and is practising the truth.
/1
It is not possible or necessary to do what Gandhiji did. One need not indulge in ‘Experiments with truth’ like him to reach his exalted status.
But the Congress party and its leaders can try to retrace the Gandhian path. Maybe, they are too conscious of their status to do it.
/2
If Gandhiji was self-conscious about his status he would not have become a symbol of simplicity with half dhoti; would not have achieved what he had with his moral courage in pursuing truth, leading the people.

Rahul has such courage to lead people on the right path.

Many may acknowledge the strengths of Nehru Gandhi family but may still have doubt whether Rahul has it in him to lead and fight against Modi & defeat BJP.

We are inclined to believe that his potential is doubtful or deceptive unless proved.
Post facto ‘predictions’ are easy.
/1
When we refuse to see the truth or read signals correctly we deceive ourselves. But we conclude that the strength of the individuals or issues are deceptive.

We fail to apply logic and sense to every aspect of successes, failures, information but jump to conclusions.
/2
The successes and failures are decided by many factors. They should not be seen or compared in isolation. Circumstances and challenges before Rahul and Congress were many.
When Rajiv took over Congress organisation strength was better. When Rahul took over it was in bad shape.

The blames, criticisms, insults, indignities piled on the Nehru Gandhi family are unlimited. This is in spite of their sacrifices, two with their own lives in service of our country and people.
In this land of dharmas, values and truth, 'yudhs' are also waged against them.
/1
Even if purely political it is way too unethical and totally unjustified.
But it is not always political forces but the vested interests with ulterior motives, agendas corrupting the minds of innocents and ignorants with jealousy, prejudices but bereft of truth, logic, reason.
/2
The only fault of the Nehru, Gandhi family or the ‘dynasty’ as they call them, is their care and concern for the country, its people and their continued connectivity, bonding with people, the response, respect they get from them.
This hurts and blocks few vested interests.

Those who have hold or influence with the masses and the party become leaders.
They should not dictate just because of their massive influence. They are to share responsibility with others.
A functional democracy should prevail for evolving right decisions through discussions.
/1
Though such processes were there, there were also attempts by overambitious politicians to disproportionately influence, change, disrupt majority decisions by fomenting disaffection, divides and exploiting inherent or imposed insecurities and ignorance of the people.
/2
This was invariably so when the power shift happens; when leaders see scope for usurping power.
Indira experienced it when she was elected by the party to lead the country. The senior leaders wanted to exercise influence beyond their weight. But one has to earn people’s trust.

Anyone becoming a part of a family is accidental. It just happens. It is also true for Gandhi family.
When they are elected by a party or people they are dynasts, but not others.
It is unfair and contradictory to call India the largest democracy and Gandhi family a ‘dynasty’.
/1
Rajiv, Sonia were not keen but Indira needed their support so made entry. Nehru carefully avoided indicating his successor. It was only the destiny that decided the course, not the ‘dynasty’.
In a democracy everything is possible. A seller of tea or lies can become a dictator.
/2
What matters is how the leader concerned functions whether as a democrat or a dynast or a dictator.

In a truly functional democracy, there cannot be a dynast or dictator if its independent institutions freely, fairly discharge their duty professionally safeguarding democracy.
