So who do we listen to? The physicians who tell us to lockdown?

We do not normalize covid, death, long term health complications or governments and loopy physicians that recommend all of the above to become the norm.

In the 19th century, people had no clue about germs and Germ Theory. Medical knowledge consisted of a disease theory developed in Ancient Greece.
Same with medicine. This is the time period actual snake oil was used as a cure for illness. Medicine was unregulated.

Lockdowns weren’t used because people largely believed disease was spontaneously generated, a punishment from god or in the air.

Until germs were understood, the approach was to carry on and just learn to live with it. Because lockdowns impacted the wealthy. Disease was thought to be a poor person’s burden. Immoral callousness of the wealthy meant a dead or severely ill worker could be easily replaced.
Few contemporary governments are willing to impose restrictions to eliminate disease, although authorities have known since the 14th century that quarantines prevent disease transmission.
Why? The economy. And the belief the lower classes don’t matter and are expendable.

UCP and almost all other conservatives are prioritizing profits over people. This is the belief in social hierarchy and devaluation of people at the bottom of the hierarchy. This is conservative ideology. And this belief system is entirely consistent with UCP ideology.
