What seems to be the problem? A recent change to include user generated content and those with the responsibility to impose restrictions on their medium, like YouTube, Twitter. It’s those entities to be regulated, to follow their own rules. And possibly fined if they don’t.
This has far right freaking out.
They’re already upset that Trump and a number of other propagandists have been banned from some social media because of incitement to violence January 6, 2021.
This bill would give the government (CRTC) leverage to demand better oversight by owners of internet mediums. Rather than provide a medium to abuse and provide disinformation free for all.
Rumble dot com anyone? The new American far right shit post haven.
That’s the big issue. That’s the panic mode indicator. Tucker Carlson, Posobiac, Levant, Stone, Bannon, and all the other agents of chaos won’t be able to post crap anymore on a Canadian medium.
🤣😂😅😆
Opportunity to escape American oversight, door slammed shut. 🚪🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻
Please show Minister of Canadian Hertage, MP Guilbeault some love and appreciation. @s_guilbeault
He seriously needs the ratios to alert him and LPC that a majority of reasonable Canadians fully support regulation of the internet as proposed.
This legislation could shut down a serious amount of nonsense creating Q’Anon and other deluded and alternate reality groups.
It won’t eliminate everything. But it will encourage medium owners & operators to better oversee how their medium is used. Blatant disinformation ~ NO.

Kenney used coded Dominionist Christian language to communicate his plans in his 2018 policy platform.
But unless you can interpret his coded language, it just sounds like word salad.
UCP may seem like they’re speaking to the entire public, but their communication is specifically aimed at Dominionist Christians & loyal followers of far right ideology.
