Manitoba is now looking at giving a first #COVID19 dose to 70% of adults by June 8 now, up one day from June 9.

No word yet on whether Manitoba will administer Pfizer to 12-17 year olds.
If MB vaccinates teens, forecast for first dose would be pushed back a week, Johanu Botha says.
MB plans to open a Gimli supersite at Gimli Rec Centre in late May.
Botha blames low dose administration this past week on the delayed Moderna shipment.

Pfizer supplies double this week.
General vaccine eligibility drops to age 45 today at 11:45 a.m.

This is for everyone, including people outside high-priority areas.
The age bar will then drop every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Second-dose appointments will begin after first dose
eligibility wraps up.

The first groups eligible to book their second dose will
immunocompromised adults or people specific priority medical conditions

Eligibility will then proceed based on when a person gets the first dose.
All people aged 12 plus would be eligible by May 21, if this happens.
Of course, eligibility means the ability to book an appointment.
Bottom line: Everyone who wants their first dose will be able to book an appointment over the next two weeks.
Botha says second-dose campaign should wrap up by the end of July.

Why so much faster? Way more Pfizer doses are coming, starting now.
Manitoba is starting to look at a booster-shot program after first and second doses are complete.
Botha says the third-dose campaign may look a lot more like normal, pre-pandemic immunization programs.

Won't need to hit so many people every day.
Botha asked about teacher vaccinations and defers to Reimer. She speaks at 12:30.

A brief data note about peak hospitalization and ICU numbers in Manitoba during the second wave ...
Until December, the province didn’t disclose the total number of COVID patients in hospital & ICU.

Before then, Shared Health only disclosed infectious patient numbers.

That left out people who stayed in hospital beyond two weeks. So the full figure started getting provided.
As a result, we have a data gap.

The highest number of Covid patients in ICU disclosed last year was 55, but that was only infectious patients.

The chief nursing officer at one point suggested 60 was the highest total number, but that was not a firm figure.
