TY @C_C_Krebs. Serious question. How cld u know if vote tallies were changed down ballot w/o conducting a forensic analysis of the machines or meaningful hand audits? America’s top auditing expert told me b4 the election that most races are not audited meaningfully. TY. 1/
3/ ImageImage
4/ The problem is that, because you told everyone this election was so secure, all traction for legislation requiring removal of modems & meaningful hand audits automatically (regardless of margin of victory) has died. Why bother if our election was so great w/o thus hassle?
5/ The outcome of the presidential race matched the polls and has been much more heavily scrutinized than unexpected down ballot Democratic losses. Pls explain why, if at all, u are sure that vote tallies weren’t altered in those down ballot races.
6/ I’m especially concerned about the 27 House races that were expected to be toss ups and yet every one went to the GOP. Also concerned about poll defying Democratic Senate losses in MT & NC. Image
7/ It is very confusing to have most experts say that we can't know if an election is secure without conducting robust manual audits or recounts and to then have you say the election was secure even though we didn't do these things down ballot.
8/ I’m aware that polls don’t prove fraud, but this concerns me that exit polls predicted Democratic victories in both MT and NC and then both went GOP. Did u mean to imply that these states have great election security re: vote tallies? Image
9/ Cuz I doubt that, frankly. “Leaked [ES&S] voting machine passwords add to North Carolina’s growing list election security woes.” 6/9/19 h/t @VickerySec dailykos.com/story/2019/6/9…
10/ And it matters a whole lot for the next election.
11/ Saving us in 2020 was crucial. TY for ur work. But it will all be for naught if by overselling the security of vote-tallying systems, u and others put 2022 at risk.
12/ As u can see, pre-election polls in NC predicted the Democrat would win. Polls do not prove fraud. But ur word does not prove the absence of it either. Why, if at all, are u confident in NC’s election security re: vote tallies? realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2020/se… Image
13/ Pre-election polls in MT seemed to slightly favor the GOP. It was the exit polls there that slightly favored the Democrat. But I’d still like to know if u are vouching for MT’s audit laws. TY. ImageImage
14/ NC audited only the presidential race. What about the Senate race?!
16/ This says MT audits only one federal race. In a presidential year, I’m gonna guess it’s the presidential race, not the Senate race. cdn.americanprogress.org/content/upload… Image
And just like that Chris Krebs blocked me. There’s ur answer. He can’t say that down ballot vote tallies were secure bc most were not audited meaningfully or at all. If he cld, he would have explained it. What a joke. “Most secure election ever.” 🙄17/ Image
19/ Image
20/ In 2018, Chris Krebs specifically declined to advise states & local election offices in writing to remove the modems that ES&S installed in precinct scanners starting in 2015. Image
21/ In 2020, after Krebs refused to provide a written warning about ES&S’s cellular modems, researchers found ES&S back-end election systems (the systems on the receiving end of the cellular transmissions) had been left online for months in swing states. nbcnews.com/politics/elect…
22/ I’ve been told that Krebs claims they discussed the modems with election officials orally, not in writing.

The GOP got away with it for 15 years bc anyone who says they suspect cheating is called tin foil since they can’t prove it. Check mate. That said, a federal court held in 2018 that GA’s paperless voting machines were unconstitutional. It’s why GA had to move to paper. 1/
It didn’t help that some Democrats have gone along with the paperless voting machine scam. Georgia had a Democratic SOS when it became the first state to deploy touchscreen machines statewide. That year, the state lurched to the right. 2/
Some Ds in Congress voted against paper, including Steny Hoyer & Chris Dodd. The Rs who pushed paperless machines were Mitch McConnell and Bob Ney. 3/

😳”[W]hile elections administrators must still deploy voting machines w/ an auditable paper trail by 2022, they will not be req’d to follow new national standards issued by the ... EAC until 2026 at the earliest.”

So they can use the modems in 2022. 1/ washingtonpost.com/politics/hr1-v…
2/ The cellular modems installed by ES&S in swing states connect the voting system to the internet (altho ES&S has falsely claimed otherwise). #RemoveTheModems nbcnews.com/politics/elect…

Contextomy is propaganda that takes a “quote out of...context to artificially generate new meaning.”

Example: @dennis_welch posts video of AZ audit observer who says auditors are looking 4 bamboo shreds in ballots. Buries in video 2 that observer does NOT believe this himself 1/ Image
Video goes viral. Large accounts harass this observer bc they are under the false impression—created by @dennis_welch and his misleading video editing—that Brakey believes the crazy theory that the ballots will be found to have bamboo shreds in them. 2/ Image
.@dennis_welch does not bother to clear up the confusion. It’s fun having your video go viral at someone else’s expense.

@KeithOlbermann doesn’t notice or doesn’t care about the many people correcting him.

@maddow runs the miskeadingly edited clip too. 3/

We can’t have early voting without e-pollbooks. But we shld not use them on Election Day, and we are doing that, sometimes without backup paper poll books.

We can’t have voters-can-vote-anywhere vote centers (like LA county’s crap system) w/o e-pollbooks either. 1/
2/ It’s one reason I oppose replacing precinct voting with voters-can-vote-anywhere mass voting centers. LA county was supposed to be the model, and it was a shit show. They want to take it national. prospect.org/civil-rights/i…
This is what happened when e-pollbooks failed in LA county in the 2020 primary. Backup paper poll nooks are impossible with this type of voters-can-vote-anywhere model. LA was mostly vote by mail in the general due to this f#CK up. 3/

Wow. Chris Krebs blocked me for pointing out gaping holes in his “most secure election” testimony. Hint. The bar was astonishingly low. 1/
2/ The presidential race was heavily scrutinized but most unexpected Democratic losses down ballot were not audited meaningfully fully or at all. Most likely not at all. Due to his overbroad testimony, efforts to require meaningful manual audits for all federal races have stalled
3/ Why bother w/ election security legislation if Chris Krebs says the voting system is already secure? All we need is one man’s word, right? No need for dumb audits after all! 😡
