#COVID19 Health department confirms that 2 variants of concern, other than the B.1.351 already dominating in South Africa, have been detected in SA. These are: B.1.1.7 (first detected in the UK) = 11 cases. B.1.617.2 (first detected in India)= 4 cases. ML
#COVID19 The four cases of B.1.617.2 have been detected in Gauteng (2) and KwaZulu-Natal (2) and all have a history of recent arrival from India. ML

The case against suspected underworld figure Nafiz #Modack and three others has today been referred to the Blue Downs Regional Court. Modack, Jacques Cronje and Ricardo Morgan faces a string of charges including extortion, intimidation, money laundering. SF
#Modack Zane Kilian who’s implicated in the murder of detective Charl Kinnear and attempted hit on lawyer Wiliam Booth has also been added to this case today. He also appeared in court. Modack being transported to prison after his court appearance today. SF
#Modack Outside court, supporters of Modack have gathered. They’re not happy that he has been apprehended. SF

#KgothatsoMdunana A South African student has fallen to her death in China, and while her family seeks answers, it's also dealing with the reality that they're unable to bring her body back home. ML
#KgothatsoMdunana 24-year old Kgothatso Mdunana was studying civil engineering at Shandong University and was due to complete her studies this year. She died last Friday, apparently falling out of a window of a friend's flat on the 13th floor.
#KgothatsoMdunana The last time Kgothatso Mdunana’s family saw her was three years ago, but they were in constant communication. In fact, the last time they spoke was last week, two days before her mysterious passing.
