Caitlyn Jenner is a Trojan horse. She is a trans woman who will agree with their stances for her own gain, allowing the GOP to point to her as justification whenever they are accused of transphobia.
The thing that truly, deeply scares me is that it will work. She is the only trans person many, many average people are aware of, and so many people will believe she speaks for trans people at large.
The GOP is making a brilliantly terrifying strategic move by adopting her. They will say that they don’t hate trans people, they just hate the wrong kind of trans people. Which happens to me almost all of us.
They’re doing the exact same thing with her as they did with Ben Carson for the black community. They’ve adopted a token figurehead who they will feed lines to, and will dictate the perception of the views and being of an entire group based on it.
It makes me so afraid, especially because trans people are not common. We’re about .5% of the population. That makes us almost entirely dependent on cis people speaking up on our behalf, and advocating for us, even when our experiences are so unrelatable to them.
Caitlyn Jenner is the only trans person so, so many average people are even aware of. And she’s going to be used to paint the rest of us as monsters.
I am literally begging cis people to help us shut her down before it’s too late. California is a blue state. Please stop her.

Thank you so much for all your support of my Etsy! I’ve been so afraid since losing my last job and deciding to pursue my writing/activism full time that I would be destitute. I spent a huge amount of time setting up the Etsy for the big relaunch, and I couldn’t be happier!
Calculating it for a theoretical 40 hours a week, I still haven’t made a living wage this week from the Etsy... but! I made more than I’ve made at jobs in the past, and without discrimination or breaking my mind and body! I’m so relieved, genuinely.
I’ve been so afraid I would have to go get a job that would exacerbate my disabilities and chronic illnesses... and being able to avoid that has literally improved my life more than I could have imagined. Thank you so so much for helping me make this possible. 😭

“Everyone is trans now!”
The same number of people are trans as have always been.
What is changing is that more and more trans people are able to access our communities and resources to help us live longer, happier and more visible lives.
This is ALSO why the argument of “turning someone trans” isn’t true. It’s not possible to turn someone trans. However, it is possible to educate people so that more people can realize they’re trans, and be healthier and happier people overall.
I’ve been accused of being a “trans cult leader” because so many people around me have realized their trans ness.
I now see that for what it is — that I am good enough at describing and explaining my life experience and knowledge to others that it helps them realize themselves.

Getting tattoos goes like:
1st: I have thought about this for years and I finally got the courage to go for it.
2nd: I just think it’s neat, okay?
3rd: Lol it was on the wall of the parlor and I dared my artist to put it on me
4th: Honestly don’t even remember this one
5th: memes
From personal experience: my first tattoo is a tiny image of Einkorn Wheat, one of the oldest domesticated grains still in use. It makes me feel connected to the whole of humanity. It also references a line of poetry Vincent Van Gogh wrote to his brother in a letter.
The line roughly translates to, “wheat is wheat, even if it’s mistaken for grass at the beginning”, and speaks to overcoming underestimations of my character.
My second tattoo is an anatomical drawing of a little brown bat bc it’s awesome and one of my favorite species.

I just had to spend my therapy session today explaining the horror and misery of the trans experience to my cis gay therapist. It isn't his fault. It's a cultural misconception.
Cis people, ESPECIALLY cisqueer people -- read this thread. 🧵
#TransRightsAreHumanRights
Cis people need to kill the idea that you can relate to being trans. In any way. It is a fundamentally unrelatable experience to cis people.
No metaphor, no approximation, can do it justice.
Accept that now.
Every cis person, including cis queer people, is an ALLY at most.
Cis people cannot speak for trans people. Cis queer people cannot speak for trans people. And your continued insistence on doing so is killing us.

Looking for Pride Merch that supports queer people and isn't just corporate rainbow washing?
Please consider supporting my Etsy!
I will be supporting orgs such as the Trevor Project, the Marsha P Johnson Institute, and the Trans Justice Funding Project!

etsy.com/shop/MascMasks
This will also support my advocacy work and writings on queer issues, as the Etsy is my primary source of income currently.
And, on a personal level, I would appreciate it immensely, as my partner and I are hopefully getting top surgery in June, and any extra income would be beyond helpful. Stay safe and stay queer y'all 💜

A very cool thing about being a trans person who was out as queer before being out as trans is that I finally get to find and fit into my niche community within the queer community and it feels like coming home.
Anyway I love the Achillean flag so much and the bi man community just feels so *right*
I love the sapphic community dearly, and appreciate so much what they’ve done for me, but I always had a sinking sense of being an imposter or not belonging... which makes complete sense in retrospect
