What will 'someone' do to help another.

We are always cautioned about the other, to be wary. But the stories we hear now tell & teach us otherwise.

Here is one such.

Story of a 75+ senior citizen, living alone in Bangalore, with a young care taker. No close relatives.
SC falls ill. Concerned neighbours contact niece & nephew who live out of state. Tests done, both SC & caretaker are positive. Nephew, an employee of Cisco, taps into the work volunteer network to arrange a bed.

Meanwhile, the saturation level starts dropping.
Niece manages to secure a bed. But how to get her there?!

Someone reaches out to WR, who then reaches out to @mercymission1 for an ambulance.

Time is ~9pm.

Ambulance is arranged, with oxygen cylinder.
Call with niece / Cisco team / WR to ensure everything is aligned. Hospital set.

Ambulance picks SC & caretaker.

But!
The hospital refuses to admit the patient without a relative to sign the admission papers. Has to be done in person.

Much discussion ensues. The hospital does not budge.

What to do? Take her back?
No way say the ambulance drivers. Find a relative who can come to the hospital to sign the forms. We will wait here, and ensure oxygen is provided.

A relative tracked down. Who then travels to the hospital late at night. Forms filled, SC is admitted.

Time ~1:55 am
SC is under care, along with young caretaker.

Many many someones came together to find hope & support for 76+ SC.

Someones across Bangalore, and this beautiful country, you are the reason the world goes around 🙏

*Drive through vaccination camp - Whitefield*

Considering the extreme severity of the Covid challenge and the increasing case numbers in Bangalore, a gated community in Whitefield conducted a camp for the 45+ category via a Drive Through contactless vaccination initiative. Image
This probably is a first of its kind being conducted by a Residents Association in Bangalore and possibly in India

The vaccination camp was held at Palm Meadows in RGHalli on Sat, May 8 and was organised by the MC/COVID Task Force team. The service was provided by BGS Gleneagles Image
Key features:

1. Safety and convenience – for healthcare workers, residents, CTF volunteers and organisers.

2. All the processes of registration for the drive were done online - tokens given, drive route with pre-planned stations, emergency response on standby. Image

For parents with young children - contingency planning

WR Advisory | May 1, 2021

Corona is devastating and many families have lost multiple members due to the infection. We are seeing many young people lose lives too.

For parents with young child - a recommendation.
Please make a plan for who will take care of your child/children if and when you fall sick. Identity family / friends in the community or in BLR, even if your child is suspected to have COVID and need clearance.
That means the caretaker should not have aging parents or co-morbidities and hence will not be in a position to offer this help.

IMP - have a conversation with family / friends as tough as it may be to have it. Have a back up plan in case first priority is no more.

This article right here captures many of the things wrong about the Bangalore infra fix.

Let’s break this down.

@Naveen_MIRROR

bangaloremirror.indiatimes.com/bangalore/othe…
BMRCL will start construction work for the metro along ORR within 6 months.

Knowing all this, BBMP in all it’s wisdom is looking to award an annual contract for BPL maintenance.
Even worse: there has always been talk of metro construction along ORR, and it picked up speed in the last year.

BPL was completely in record time last year despite knowing metro work will start soon. Because, unless one finishes the work, one will not get paid!

#nallurhallikapadi protest was a few years back. Promises made @ArvindLBJP yet to be fulfilled

Situation remains grave, if not worse.

Video 1: entrance to Borewell Road from Whitefield Main Rd. The dug up sections outside the Post Office remains unchanged for year+
In some patches, both sides of the road is poor made worse by construction debris

Slow going on a Saturday afternoon. Vehicles & construction work machines parked haphazardly make it all the worse.

Where is the concern for free movement on a road? What happens in an emergency?
Two BWSSB works happening simultaneously - water line & sanitation.

Two sets of engineers. They don’t talk to each other as that would be expecting too much.

How about making traffic arrangements? Again, we citizens expect too much.

*Differently abled | divyangjan*

A story.

I* has had a tough life. All of 15yo, ill treated by his stepmother, I* was at his wits end in Chikkaballapur. Making matters worse, a hearing issue since birth. As yet undiagnosed.

His maternal uncle got him to Whitefield this year
Uncle reached out to Whitefield Rising, who he came to know via the recycling “Restore” in Vijaynagar.

First things first: Seek clarity on the problem.

Off to @teleradrxdx for an audiology test (cost discounted, 🙏🏽). 80% hearing loss was the verdict. Need hearing aids.
Enquiries made, decent hearing aid w/ 40% off will cost between 27-46k. What to do? Fundraise?

That’s when a volunteer started looking at Govt Schemes for the differently abled, whether adult or child

And there is! There are scholarships, job reservations, transport allowance!
