The Unbundling of Google Workspace

With the rise of remote work, we saw a huge uptick in collaboration tools, a space I'm tracking closely.

Sharing some interesting trends/startups πŸ‘‡
First trend is seeing docs/spreadsheet/calendar being integrated w each other, which led to the rise in @NotionHQ.

Similar tools that are picking up pace include @clickup and @coda_hq. @SliteHQ is similar.

@navigator @Rendezview_io pulls notes/agendas/etc into mtngs.
Ppl want more efficient note taking, want to capture all of their thoughts, and want to be able to access it easily.

@RoamResearch has a cult following here. @supernotesapp feels like a less intense version of Roam. @AlmanacDocs claims to be the fastest collaborative doc editor.
(Notes cont.) Taking it further, you have @cloverappco for quick note taking. @verbzai for note taking w voice and @GrapevineAI for the same thing but specific to CRMs.
For decks, no more PPT, ppl want to build online. I've seen more ppl using @canva these days. Another clean deck creation software is @Pitch. Then there's @decksetapp which designs decks for you using AI.
Calendar scheduling is the bane of everyone's work day apparently.

@tryamie @sunsamaHQ @reclaimai help you block time for work.

@CommandDot_ @SuperpoweredApp @undockhq help you schedule mtngs.
Not surprisingly, gmail seems to have the least competition. @Superhuman is great but it sits on top of gmail. There was the other email client that was picking up steam but... you know.
Not all of these are necessarily "unbundling" google workspaces as some of them sit on top of G's solutions.

What's clear though is that ppl aren't content w the status quo.

Exciting to see how things will evolve!
Oh, and forgot Google Sheets.

@airtable is crushing it. I'm pretty excited about @RowsHQ too.

If you want to use a back-end database, you can use @Basedash as the front-end.

I'll do whole 'nother thread on no code data management and piping which is relevant here.

1/ Been looking at building an LP portal using #NoCode.

Looked at a dozen tools, closely at 3 (@StackerHQ, @webflow/@MemberstackApp, and @softr_io).

Thought it'd be helpful to share my process πŸ‘‡
2/ For context, we run our fund on @airtable - we have every person, org, startup, LP, perk providers, all in one base.

So when I looked at these tools, I filtered for companies w strong Airtable integration. The two that stood out were Stacker and Softr.
3/ I kept Webflow in there because it's so flexible.

A bit annoying to have to use Memberstack for memberships, but found enough tutorials this wasn't a concern.

Pricing for what I need on Webflow + Memberstack is $61/mo.

I've tracked 1500+ startups (seen 10x more) and talked to 100s of investors in the last year.

Here are some of the exciting trends and startups I've noticed or come across. It's a mix of early & late stuff.

Check 'em out πŸ‘‡
#NoCode: This year was big! @airtable & @zapier are king, then @webflow & @bubble. Tools that sit on top include @MemberstackApp/@memberspace (memberships), @StackerHQ (app), @obviouslyai & @levityai (AI/ML). Jump to @makerpad to learn more about this space.
#Productivity: @NotionHQ looms large. @coda_hq & @clickup have a bit more data capabilities. @retool to go straight to your back-end. @raycastapp & @getcommande are like @Superhuman UI for your mac. @commanddot_ for calendar. @usemotion for browser

1/ How to create a Google Trends for X using Zapier & Airtable πŸ‘‡

I recently set one up to monitor unique keyword trends in ProductHunt so will use that as an example. #nocode
2/ First you set up your Airtable.

First sheet is to capture the main data, in this case PH data.

In this sheet, create a linked column, and create a new table called keywords (multiple allowed).
3/ Then jump to Zapier, your trigger should be your data source. Can be RSS, webhook, etc. in this case PH. I’m pulling all new products.

You can do this for internal tools too, like notes from your CRM.

Who were the most active investors into US startups at pre-seed since the pandemic?

I took a look at some Crunchbase numbers.πŸ‘‡

*Lots of accelerators, but I kept them in there. And yes, CB data is not complete.
Top overall were @techstars (141), @ycombinator (60), @expertdojo (25), @alchemistacc (18), @jason (15), @500startups (14), @masschallenge (14), @boostvc (11), @thefundglobal (10), @SputnikATX (9), @Acceleprise (9).
Dug into some specific categories. For eg, in healthcare, the top were @techstars, @ycombinator, @ExpertDojo again. Then @creativedlab, Right Side Capital, @thefundglobal, @alchemistacc, @500startups, @startuphealth, KidsxAccerleator.

Feelin' the love on Twitter, feel bad I tricked you yesterday, so here are some startups from my pipeline!

If you're the founder, let's chat. If you're a VC - look through this and reach out! πŸ‘‡

*I have not spoken to these startups yet, according to CB, they're early.
@TurquoiseHC lets you compare healthcare pricing. Health costs in the US are ridiculous. Love the mission here.
Curious to learn more about AI driven A/B testing from @QuicksandAi and @abtestingai. This makes sense to me. Just have GPT-3 create new copy and auto test.
