#KSEBL Reservoirs Statistics in the backdrop of probability of cyclogenesis in Arabian Sea.

KSEBL own 59 dams.

Out of which only 33 numbers are qualified as large dams, rest are diversion structures for augmentation.

We have only 18 reservoirs formed under above dams.
The combined live storage capacity of these 18 reservoirs is 3532.47 MCM.

The biggest reservoir is Idukki with 1460 MCM and the smallest one is Sengulam with 0.39 MCM.
The above 18 reservoirs are divided based on storage capacity as follows:

Major ones (5 Nos.) - Idukki, Idamalayar, Kakki, Banasurasagar and Sholayar (92.3% of total capacity)

Medium ones (6 Nos.) - Madupetty, Anayirankal, Ponmudi, Kuttiyadi, Pamba & Poringalkuthu (7% of total)
Minor reservoirs (7 nos.)- Kundala, Kallarkutty, Lower Periyar, Moozhiyar, Kallar, Erattayar and Sengulam (0.7% of total capacity.

Today all these 18 reservoirs together hold 1130.55 MCM, ie, 32% of their total capacity
There are enough rooms in all major 5 reservoirs.

The live storage position as of today is as follows:

Idukki - 475.799 MCM (32.6%)
Idamalayar - 304.440 MCM (29.91%)
Kakki - 193.650 MCM (43.37%)
Banasurasagar - 19.550 MCM (10.54%)
Sholayar - 45.53 MCM (30.34%)
As far as medium reservoirs are concerned

Madupetty - 31.94%
Anayirankal - 7.82% (unregulated one)
Ponmudi - 79.61%
Kuttiyadi - 46.59%
Pamba - 0.90%
Poringalkuthu - 25.48% (shutters kept in open position)

We are monitoring Ponmudi, Poringalkuthu & Kuttiyadi closely.
As far as minor reservoirs are concerned, Kundala has 8.77% storage and no chance of spill.

Rest are receiving cascading flow from upstream powerhouses & they have no holding capacity. So if they fill with rains, shutters will be opened after all observing all formalities.
It is important to understand that the spillway are provided to manage the excess inflow coming to the reservoir.

A reservoir is formed with multiple dams. Example Idukki reservoir is having Idukki Arch Dam, Cheruthoni Dam & Kulamavu dam.

The spillway is given in Cheruthoni
Banasurasagar reservoir in Wayanad is formed with 8 dams and it is also having only one spillway.

As far as Sengulam & Anayirankal reservoirs are concerned, they have no gates and spill water will freely flow once it reach FRL.
At present Poringalkuthu reservoirs gates are kept in open position and that reservoir is also function as an ungated one.

So at present, 15 reservoirs are having a regulated spillways, which can be open to discharge water.

So don't confuse them with number of dams.

'Central government to improve the country’s healthcare system “instead of the temple, idols and the new residence of the Prime Minister”
Pandit Rajan Mishra's Son m.thewire.in/article/the-ar…
"If a person like Panditji, a Padma Bhushan awardee, who could have survived if he had got the facilities, did not get them, then what about the common man?” Rajnish Mishra said, speaking to The Telegraph on Wednesday.
“Father is not coming to see the hospital now nor is Ramji coming to see his temple in Ayodhya. At present, the country needs a hospital with good facilities,” Rajnish said, speaking to Dainik Bhaskar.

Modi offers beguiling accounts of Hindu identity and Indian greatness, with the aid of allied newspapers and television networks, as well as on Twitter, where he has sixty-eight million followers and a phalanx of trolls.  newyorker.com/magazine/2021/…
When the pandemic struck, last year, Modi summoned his loyal media barons and editors, who, according to the Prime Minister’s Web site, promised “inspiring and positive stories” about his government’s fight against the coronavirus.
The country suffered tens of thousands of covid-19 deaths in 2020, but forecasts of even more dire outcomes did not materialize. In January, at Davos, Modi boasted that India had “saved humanity from a big disaster by containing corona effectively.”

Ram Rajya in Kejriwal’s Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi may have given the mantra of looking for opportunity in the crisis but it’s Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who makes the most of it! newindianexpress.com/cities/delhi/2…
When Covid’s current phase was knocking at the doors of the country & Capital, city’s FM Manish Sisodia was presenting a `69,000 crore ‘patriotism’ budget.

The highlights of this budget were installation of 500 flag masts and planning programmes on the lives of freedom fighters
There was announcement of ‘Desh Bhakti’ curriculum but nothing to showcase by the way of strengthening the health infrastructure of the city.

Kejriwal knows that he doesn’t need to work beyond planning right optics, as Delhi being the Capital will not be allowed to collapse.
