SCOOP: Former staffer sues Congressman, alleging "reckless" handling of COVID-19 in office, calling it "hoax" and requiring personal errands from employees nbcwashington.com/news/coronavir…
Sues alleges Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO) did not require masks in office, didn't permit social distancing and said he wouldn't allow "House Leadership to dictate how he ran his office."
Suit also alleges Rep. Lamborn allowed his son to live in a storage space in basement of US Capitol for weeks
Suit claims Lamborn required staff to complete personal "errands"... including moving furniture to family vacation home
Then there's this allegation about Christmas gifts ==>
According to suit: "In the March and April 2020 timeframe, the District Office staff had meetings with
Representative Lamborn and his wife, during which Representative Lamborn and Mrs. Lamborn
both claimed that COVID was a hoax"
Rep. Lamborn office did not immediately return request for comment. Lamborn reportedly tested positive for COVID in November. The former staffer who filed suit also tested positive for virus, per suit. Staffer claims he was fired for objecting to "reckless" handling of virus
UPDATE: Per Rep Lamborn spokeswoman, "The workplace safety allegations made by Mr. Pope are unsubstantiated and did not result in the termination of his employment. Congressman Lamborn looks forward to full vindication as all facts come to light.”

Wednesday's US House Oversight Committee hearing into Jan 6 Insurrection will review whether US Justice Dept had blind eye toward right-wing extremism under Pres. Trump, per US House aides
Committee chair Carolyn Maloney, "There is no question that former President Trump’s inflammatory language provoked and incited the violent mob that stormed the United States Capitol in a last-ditch effort to overturn the lawful results of the 2020 presidential election."
Former Trump Defense Secretary Christopher Miller and Acting Atty General Jeffrey Rosen will testify and be questioned
All hell broke loose during the virtual court appearance of US Capitol Insurrection defendant Landon Copeland.
A court released transcript shows how vulgar and disjointed the hearing became for this defendant from Utah, whose accused of assaulting police ==>
Copeland was screaming "objection" during the hearings of *other* defendants, including when prosecutors referenced Trump and FOX News.
Eventually, he promised to keep his "mouth shut"
Soon after, things began spiraling out of control. Copeland began yelling at judge. Wanted postponement, cited his military service... said "You owe this to me"
THREAD: Don't take the feds at their word when they say a US Capitol Insurrection defendant is being "monitored" prior to trial.
Judge has ordered prosecutors to update her by Friday about what's going wrong with the monitoring of Daniel Egtvedt
Egtvedt is accused of grabbing at police on Jan 6 and disregarding orders.
Judge released him weeks ago saying "Being a jerk, a loudmouth and belligerent" was not reason to hold Egtvedt
But his release didn't go as planned
In court filings, prosecutors say the court's probation office couldn't properly equip Egtvedt with electronic monitoring devices. They didn't work at the home in which he's staying around remote Garrett County, Maryland.
