At 10am: I'm closely watching hearing of US Capitol riot defendant Chris Worrell, who's seeking release from jail

Worrell is an accused Proud Boy & allegedly pepper sprayed police

Worrell argues he has Non-Hodgkins lymphoma & vulnerable to COVID in jail

But.. there's a twist
In filing last night, Justice Dept argues it's found no record Worrell received treatment recently
Feds express some concerns about the doctor Worrell cites in his argument for release.

Doc has no staff, no medical records and is not oncologist, per prosecutors
Oh.. and .. they say Worrell already had COVID and no longer has symptoms
Feds allege Chris Worrell not only participated in riot, but was a "calculated participant"

And they say he has a criminal history of impersonating police ==>
US Justice Dept argues court should keep Worrell BEHIND BARS, pending trial. We'll see what the judge says at 10am

THIS WEEK: I'm eagerly anticipating a decision about pretrial detention in the case of accused US Capitol Insurrectionist Landon Copeland of Utah

Copeland is accused of assaulting police on front lines Jan 6

Four months later: Copeland screamed vulgarities at the judge May 6
The court tried to mute Copeland's phone when he began screaming vulgarities during his court appearance this week.

It. Did. Not. Go. Well. ===>
Then this happened ===> (at full volume)

THREAD:

All hell broke loose during the virtual court appearance of US Capitol Insurrection defendant Landon Copeland.

A court released transcript shows how vulgar and disjointed the hearing became for this defendant from Utah, whose accused of assaulting police ==>
Copeland was screaming "objection" during the hearings of *other* defendants, including when prosecutors referenced Trump and FOX News.

Eventually, he promised to keep his "mouth shut"
Soon after, things began spiraling out of control. Copeland began yelling at judge. Wanted postponement, cited his military service... said "You owe this to me"

THREAD: Don't take the feds at their word when they say a US Capitol Insurrection defendant is being "monitored" prior to trial.

Judge has ordered prosecutors to update her by Friday about what's going wrong with the monitoring of Daniel Egtvedt
Egtvedt is accused of grabbing at police on Jan 6 and disregarding orders.

Judge released him weeks ago saying "Being a jerk, a loudmouth and belligerent" was not reason to hold Egtvedt

But his release didn't go as planned
In court filings, prosecutors say the court's probation office couldn't properly equip Egtvedt with electronic monitoring devices. They didn't work at the home in which he's staying around remote Garrett County, Maryland.

So he's been "un-monitored" for two weeks ==>
