A thread:

Many Scots are in denial over Barnett, GERs figures, HS2, we export more to the UK, Crossrail, Currency, future of mortgages and pensions, Churchill sending tanks to George Square, the 51st being abandoned and many many more myths, lies and conspiracy theories.

Why?
To create the narrative that England cheats or steals from us.

This is furthered by unpalatable rhetoric by SNP elected politicians who spout knowing lies about our relationship and situation.

They even can’t accept the fact the UK is a country, a unitary state: our country.
Why is independence supporting parties doing well in our elections in Scotland then if it’s all lies?

Well this is where I suggest Flat Earthers, Moon Landing Conspiracy nuts and my favourite the JFK assassination conspiracy theories are useful.

The late, great Vincent Bugliosi
Author of Reclaiming History and the man who successfully convicted Lee Harvey Oswald in Channel Four’s famous Trial in 1983 (all done with real evidence and witnesses flown in from the USA) hits the nail on the head when in 2013 on a documentary about JFK he said:
“Most of the literature surrounding the assassination is pro conspiracy. When the public are being fed this overwhelmingly for 50 years it takes its toll.”

Even when presented with evidence that debunks many of the nonsense such as the Magic Bullet (which the conspiracy nuts
conveniently ignore the seating configuration in the car) the public still don’t believe it.

Why?

It’s ingrained. Some now don’t want to believe the truth.

But again it’s propaganda. If you are fed years of propaganda and it’s rarely challenged or the volume of information
Is not impartial and skewered towards one side of any debate, it will take its toll.

I believe that’s what’s happened in Scotland over the last 7 years.

The SNP were laughed at as a fringe party of lunatics. Then Holyrood gave them a wider platform to air their propaganda
Which in turn led to 2007 when inexplicably Salmond was helped into forming his minority administration.

He made name changes (the lower status “Executive” in favour of the grandiose “government” etc) and gradually set about making more minor, seemingly trivial changes which
If one moaned or criticised it made you look petty.

But this is all part of the SNP plan. Gradualism, incrementalism.

Appear like Holyrood is a seat of Government. Appear that the FM is an equal to the PM.

Drive a wedge between Scots and English.

Appear that we are different.
Nothing too trivial is not important enough to hammer this home.

And then returning to propaganda, what’s the best way to win the long game? Indoctrination of the young in schools.

We’ve now had 14 years of SNP (mis)rule.

So a child who went to school aged 5 is now 18/19.
They know nothing but SNP. Scotland.

They’ve seen bogus history taught in schools, as well as Braveheart flavoured topics such as the Wars of independence.

Even the English curriculum has been Scotified.

Schools have Tartan weeks or St Andrew’s Day themed weeks not just days.
Everything has to be Scottishy.

Everything British is removed. In history I’ve seen texts where you’d think Scotland fought the war as an independent nation alongside England rather than as Britain.

Like most things in life it’s not reality or truth that counts but perception.
We see the British Transport Police come under threat and even the BBC.

Anything that celebrates or unifies must be attacked by the SNP.

The National is another arm of the propaganda war. So are the cybernats (hiya) who hopefully foam at the mouth when confronted by the truth,
Progress Scotland is yet another propaganda arm. Designed to create the perception that Scots overwhelmingly want independence. Yet we know we don’t.

Business for Scotland tried the same with cherrypicked figures back in 2014.

All designed to deceive, distract and deflect.
The Wings blog played its part too in propaganda. And produced a handy cut and keep Wee Blue Book of bullshit.

It all adds up.

If the truthers/debunkers are only given 10-20% of exposure via the media then is it any wonder where we are?

Where are our reporters? Journalists?
Why has there never been a film or TV documentary akin to the “Did we go to the Moon” debunking response that shows up the SNP myths and lies for what they are?

Why?

It must be in the public interest?

Maybe @GBNEWS will be brave?
So my ultimate point is the fight to get our normal politics back is one of propaganda.

It’s actually defeating propaganda.

Counter the myths, lies and conspiracy theories of the SNP.

But it needs mass exposure, wider audiences than Twitter or the odd 5-10 minutes on radio.
So I appeal to the people who have influence and followers to help educate and inform our public who believe the nonsense.

It needs to involve a coalition of pro UK groups and figures, which @These_Islands and others aim to be but its go to be even more prominent.
Win the propaganda war by debunking it and the SNP will decline.

It’s not a 2 year job or even a 5 year one. It could take a decade or more.

But it has to be done. It’s the only way to return to normality.

It seems to me people are deliberately ignoring the differences between elections and referendums.

Referendums are single issue votes that have seismic impacts. Massive change is enacted if change wins.

That is why they cannot be every few years.

Uncertainty kills economy.
Refusing to accept the results of referendums is undemocratic.

The position of the SNP/Yes re: Brexit is disingenuous.

A Yes vote in 2014 would have seen Scotland out of the EU.

SNP didn’t campaign for Remain EU. They spent more on a by-election than the Remain vote.
The SNP wrote in their white paper it was a once in a generation vote.

Hold them to that.

Or what does their word mean?

Respect The Edinburgh Agreement.

The worst thing for Scotland is to have another referendum before a fair period of time has elapsed. Why?

Scotland subsidises England.

MYTH.

We spend £81 billion for public sector yet only bring in £65 b.

GERS is collected for the SG and SNP had no issues with it when it suited them.

Can’t have it both ways.
The Scottish Government cannot borrow.

MYTH

On the ScotGov website it is there but down in the footnotes.

Scotland Act (2016).
