/n: My uncle(mausa ji) died on 4 May in #IBSmriti Hospital while getting treatment for #Covid19 at #Darbhanga due to their sheer #negligience
/n: He was admitted on 3 May when the SpO2 level fell in the 70s range. On oxygen cylinder support, it gradually increased to 91. #CTScan showed an infection score of 16/25 which the doctor said was critical but curable.
/n: My cousin brother(his son) and mausi (his wife) were then asked to leave as there were no attendants allowed in the COVID ward. Mausa Ji was given a phone and then both of them left but kept checking on him throughout the day and night by visiting the hospital frequently.
/n: On the morning of 4 May,mausi called him multiple times to check how he was doing but there was no response. Then she called the hospital so that someone could check if he was okay. The hospital staff without checking replied that he was sleeping & there was no need to worry
/n: Mausi had to literally beg them to go and check if everything was fine. Before this guy could check, mausi got a call from mausa ji. He could just say that he was lying in the bathroom, needs help, no one attended when he wanted to go to the toilet.
/n: By that time the staff whom mausi had contacted also arrived & along with doctors rushed him to ICU and later to a ventilator but we lost him.
"Hum bathroom mein gire hue hain, bahut kasht me hain. Aap log kahan hain, madad chahiye".
/n: ("I've fallen in the bathroom. I am in severe pain. Where are you people? I need help.")
These were his last words. My hands trembled while typing this entire story as they did when I heard the news on 4th.
/n: I was constantly seeking help on Twitter to arrange for medicines, oxygen etc. and I always got help.
This incident made me feel helpless, deeply agonized, and shocked beyond words.
/n: I have no proofs for this story except the call log showing phone calls made by mausi to the hospital and receiving a call from mausa ji.
/n: My cousin sister(his daughter) contacted the district administration of Darbhanga with the entire case, only to find out that the officer too had lost his father last year at #AIIMS Patna in a similar case of negligence. He said that he can't do much about it.
/n: I beg the leaders/people who ever is reading this thread, please help bring #justice to him. Nobody should lose their life like this. This is nothing less than a homicide. We know we can't get him back. But, we want that the administration gets aware
/n: and take action to prevent such incidents from happening. #Bihar's hospitals, irrespective of private /public, are filled with cases of negligence, improper facilities, incompetent & antipathetic staff.
/n: @NitishKumar @BiharTakChannel @BiharHealthDept Please stop hospitals in #Bihar from treating patients like stray animals. The health system in Bihar is reeling and common people are losing hope. Please ask them to show some empathy towards patients. Please #savebihar 🙏
