Or... don't. Because it's just not a normal friendship conversation.

telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness…
'More than nine in 10 UK adults say they are happy to receive a Covid vaccine.' This is '8 out 10 cats prefer Whiskas'. Social conformity & norms. It's 'safe' to make the same choice as everyone else.
The term ‘vaccine hesitancy’ is quite a new term. It implies a slight pathologisation. At the least, the vaccine sceptic looks a bit silly.
It also implies the ‘hesitation’ is just a step towards the inevitable – come on dear, we’ll get you over that hump and you’ll have your vaccination in the end. It's a very confident term, if you think about it.
The lamentation that emotional stories have more impact than facts could have been remembered much earlier in the epidemic. But anyway.
Asking friends to do this has a slight ring of the block policing that has been, and still is, widely used in Communist regimes, where individuals are asked to report anti-social behaviour and promote pro-social acts by their neighbours. So, perhaps don't do this to your friends.

Simon Stevens has said that 20,426 people are being treated for Covid in hospitals in England, which is higher than the previous peak of about 19,000 in April.

This compares two absolute numbers, but there are serious problems.

bbc.co.uk/news/health-55…
1. It’s winter and we always have more patients in winter than we do in April. For background context let’s compare occupancy and ICU for this December with previous Decembers going back 5 years.
2. Numerically there are more patients but just presenting that as a crude statistic is disingenuous because we also have more beds nationally than April. Without the occupancy % figures it’s impossible for anyone to understand what the inpatient numbers mean.

My feature The Detransitioners 🦎 was the third most read story in the Times and Sunday Times in 2020.

Thank you to @km_km_km_ and @thesundaytimes for running it and being an absolute dream to work with.

I was warned to expect a backlash, and had a few refusals. But this was an important story and I knew I could tell it with compassion and integrity. The women who trusted me and took part are truly brave and have lived several lifetimes in one.
Creativity, investigation and social documentary must be intrepid, honest and from the heart. There’s more to come from me in 2021!

On 19 Nov there was a coordinated campaign of over 300 tweets, comprised of accounts which look genuine and some which seem to be bots.

Who initiated this campaign and who deployed these accounts to push for online censorship?
This is a thread containing some information, some questions, and not many firm answers. The campaign was clumsy enough to be spotted, and it was interestingly timed.
Also 19 Nov, MP Damian Collins took part in a debate about #OnlineHarms

A vaccine seems like the happy ending to the horrible story of 2020, but happy endings are not written in the language of coercive control, emotional manipulation and threats.
This is an example: telegraph.co.uk/business/2020/…

Another example is health ministers threatening mandation which would need changes to the law.
This will not go well. At best it is counter-productive and will be socially divisive. At worst people will lose more trust in government & science.

Happy endings do not include the loss of bodily autonomy and free will or the splitting of society.
