A 🧵 on vascular diseases caused by viruses - because CoVid attacks the vascular system throughout the body.

And "late effects" of viruses can happen years later.

Like with polio, 15 to 40 years later.
marchofdimes.org/news/after-eff…

And pinning down late effects can
be very difficult. By the time, the late effects kick in, a middle-aged person will have been exposed to hundreds of viruses.

The purpose of this thread is:

✅ I'm curious about the topic.
⚠️ Urge caution as we still don't know much about CoVid.
🚫 Not to shock.

"VZV (human herpesvirus 3) is a ubiquitous, exclusively human DNA virus. Primary infection occurs via respiratory aerosols or contact with vesicles from an infected individual and results in the characteristic disseminated rash of ...chickenpox."
Chickenpox (aka varicella) accounts for 7 to 31% of arterial ischemic stroke in kids.

In transient cerebral arteriopathy of childhood, stroke is preceded by varicella in 44% of cases.

In immunocompromised adults, VZV infection of the central nervous system (CNS) was detected in
1.5 to 4.4% of autopsy cases.

Brain imaging of patients with VZV vasculopathy reveals ischemic or hemorrhagic infarction.

Moving on...CMV: 👇
Next, "in acute myocardiopathy and pericardiopathy, Coxsackie virus B infections are increasingly recognized as a cause of primary myocardial disease and may cause chronic cardiovascular disease. "

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3843596/
"...Multiple pathogens have been associated with atherosclerosis"

"Recent data suggests that the risk of atherosclerosis conveyed by infection relates to the number of atherogenic pathogens with which an individual is infected. "

ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/01…
"Injury to the vessel wall and the associated inflammatory response to injury are now generally recognized as the essential components of atherogenesis."

That's it for now, please wear a mask - especially indoors.

If Dr. Greenhalgh, extremely accomplished and honored, is recommending canceling, then we should all pay attention.

Besides her recommendation, what about vaccine inequity?

The eyes of the world will be upon you.
If the athletes get the best vaccines, you will have many stories in the Japanese press about the deaths of the Japanese while the athletes enjoy the beauty of Japan.

If they don't get the best, then you will have the vaccine inequity stories. "USA wins again thanks to Pfizer!"
Plus, there will bound to be poorer nation athletes who get drastically sick in Japan.

A PR nightmare for Japan, and the Olympics.

This is a lose-lose for you. And the world.

@TexasAFT @northside_aft @HFT2415 @AllianceAFT

This is getting you ready for the next school year.

Texas is not going to be vaccinated enough.
⚠️ Religious exceptions
⚠️ Vaccine hesitancy.
⚠️ Vaccine may not be approved early enough for kids.
⚠️ B117 & B1617 both hit kids
harder. And young people harder as well.
⚠️ B1617's vaccine effectiveness has dropped to 75%. There is a decent possibility of another variant coming out that drops that effectiveness below 50%. No longer considered to be efficacious.

Abbott is effectively cooking the books.

You will need better ventilation to battle far-field aerosols.

And masks to battle near & far-field aerosols.

Imagine a land with no CoVid.

But who has a Martin Kulldorff type of epidemiologist who wishes for it.

Who bases their beliefs on Ioannidis's work

This is that story.

New Zealand,. Simon Thornley.

It is very long, but well worth the read. Or listen, as it has a podcast
at the top, very conveniently.

Very grateful H/T @YouAreLobbyLud, because this is such a fascinating read.

Just a few tidbits. The start....always Ioannidis, isn't it?

At what point do you realize that your work has been so spectacularly wrong - and used for such Image
wrong?

After Thornley went down the Ioannidis rabbit hole, he formed his own GBD (called Plan B) with his own Jeffrey Tucker of AEIR (Mark Blackham).

They all signed the GBD, of course.

And just like the GBD, they thought #India was a shining example with no break-outs even Image

Ok...buck stops with @CDCDirector. Period.

This kind of whining is unacceptable. Your job is to watch out for us.

All of us.

Not just the billionaire owners' of society. Image
Kudos to @celinegounder for pointing the way to a much more scientifically-based path to unwinding masks. Image
And now it looks like we've got the man who completely messed the mask roll back - unless I've completely misinterpreted this?

Henry Walke.

I disagree as well.

Starting at the top - @jameshohmann - you are using moral hazard incorrectly in this case.

You are implying it is a moral hazard to give rewards to individuals to get vaccinated.

When in reality, it is to our society's benefit to get
all vaccinated. Individuals will bear the cost of getting sick- but our society will suffer a far greater loss in terms of impact to productivity, etc.

Additionally, since we as a society benefit, it is only natural that the government is going to be the entity to make that Image
happen.

We are not the United States of Walmart, quite yet.

But that is only looking at immediate costs.

There is also a long term cost from "late effects". SARS-COV-2 is a virus as is polio.

Always a great study when tweeted out by Dr. Noakes - let's dive in.

✅2 cases of transmission from bus drivers to passengers up to more than 9 feet/ 3 meters.
✅Genomic confirmation
✅Airflow traced - please see Dr. Noakes original thread for commentary on the method used.
Limitations:
📌Facemask compliance unsure
📌Fomite possible. Not likely
📌Community transmission possible - but not likely
Two trips and two separate van drivers involved.

Both trips - windows closed, ventilation NOT on recirculate, heaters on medium fan.

First trip - 4 patients on 2-hour trips to and from the hospital on December 2, 2020. Driver tested +positive on December 3, 2020.
