The spokespeople for @AmerAcadPeds and Human Rights Watch seem to think we don't have enough coverage of successful trans-youth stories. Have they been living under a rock for the last 5 years? Have these people seen any mainstream coverage of the experiences of detrans people?
From one of the detrans people interviewed for the @60Minutes program that aired tonight:
Jack Turban admits to pressuring @60Minutes and @CBSNews about last night's episode, evidently for the sin of allowing interviews with some detransitioners to be aired (less than 10 minutes airtime).
Honestly, who the hell does this? Goes out of their way to suppress and silence people? Has a detransitioner EVER make a "series of phone calls" to try to suppress media coverage of happy trans people?
A little trip down Memory Lane. In March, Jennifer Boylan, a prominent member of the trans community said @HRC was "on it" to influence producers of the @60Minutes program on detransition...
Boylan spilled the beans on Twitter that she was asked (but declined) to interview for the program...thereby alerting the activists who couldn't tolerate detransitioners being allowed the opportunity to tell their stories on a major news program.
Last night, Boylan tweeted about the results of these efforts by a "hardworking group of LGBTQ advocates to pressure" @60Minutes
Comment submitted on yesterday's article: "This woman obviously never worked with infertile adults. I myself felt suicidal over infertility, and I just happen to be a lesbian with Pcos."
Ehrensaft can't point to any data that the fast-increasing population of sterilized tween/young teen trans kids won't regret--because there isn't any such data. This is all too new.
The commenter mentions she will "look into" the satanic abuse controversy later. Dr. Ehrensaft was involved in evaluating kids allegedly subjected to satanic abuse at a San Francisco preschool. She wrote an article about it in 1992. ia801408.us.archive.org/35/items/ehren…
Of all the supposed "gotchas" leveled at Jesse Singal for the sin of his 2017 Atlantic article, one of the dumbest is that there was something nefarious about interviewing parents who'd posted on 4thWaveNow...which was the ONLY place parents of desisters had a voice in 2015-17.
There was literally nowhere else to find that particular group of people back then. It's pathetic (and defamatory) how these people keep flogging the dead horse that 4thWaveNow is "anti-trans" or "a hate group." For some reason, they won't admit the obvious:
We provide a platform for not just parents, but researchers, clinicians, desisters/detransitioners, & others who critically examine the upsurge (particularly) in girls & young women wanting to medically transition in the last 5-10 years. The "hate" libel is just pure projection.
Before you say any of this is bizarre or outrageous, consider that this is now the norm, perpetuated by many pediatric clinicians and organizations like Gender Spectrum.
