JUST IN | Reports of train accident involving coach train number 40 and 81 of the LRT Kelana Jaya line.

Not much details at moment as eyewitnesses are sharing images and videos of the current situation of injured passengers in the train.

Bernama shared a short video of the current situation inside the train coaches, with passengers sitting on the floor with broken glasses. Rescue mission is underway.

According to Astro Awani, the train accident occured near the Kampung Baru station, where train number 41 and 80 were involved.

As the authorities and rescue team are attending to the incident, it is uncertain how many people were injured.

Rapid KL updated the status about 20 minutes ago and informed that all injured passengers have been evacuated to platform as the rescue is ongoing.

The Prasana owned company did not specify the number of passengers affected and the severity of the injuries from the incident.

A live video was broadcasted by China Press showing the current rescue operations and evacuation of affected passengers near KLCC LRT. More than a dozen injured passengers were seen on stretchers and sitting by the steps while awaiting to be transported.

Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong has also arrived at the location of the incident and will be speaking to the press soon.

Dang Wangi police chief Zainal Abdullah told the press that the two train coaches collided in the tunnel between KLCC and Kpg Bahru, one coach with 213 passengers and the other faulty train was on manual.

47 people were seriously injured, 166 people suffered minor injuries.

Transport minister Wee Ka Siong said that a preliminary report will be prepared within 24 hours and a special task force to investigate the LRT Kelana Jaya incident at KLCC and report to be ready within 2 weeks.

At this point of time, we cannot ascertain the causes of the collision between the two train coaches.

The incident happened between KLCC station and Kampung Bahru station of the LRT Kelana Jaya line.

Starting May 25, stricter SOPs will be imposed on work and public transport. No updates yet for those affected in their daily travel using the Kelana Jaya line after this incident.

In 2008, a train accident occurred at the Bukit Jalil LRT station of the Sri Petaling Line.

Six passengers suffered minor injuries, about 300 passengers were on board the two train coaches.

Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong said in a statement today that a special task force is formed to collate all investigation reports to be prepared into a final
report as the basis of a Cabinet paper. Public communications will be issued by the Minister's office.

Update:
- All 213 passengers will be compensated with RM1,000
- 6 victims are still in critical condition, 15 semi-critical
- 43 victims were given outpatient treatment
- Prasarana will bear all medical treatment costs, including follow-up treatment and recompense loss of income

3 victims who were in critical condition last night have been treated accordingly, one required intubation while the other two suffered fractures.

19 victims who were treated at yellow zone yesterday, one has been admitted and others discharged.

42 were treated at green zone.
