IMHO
Biggest achievements of #ModiSarkarKe7Saal we take for granted:
1 Self-attestation: In 1-stroke, no need to hunt for "Gazetted Officers" who will inspect an original document before imperially affixing a signature on a duplicate. Your word wasn't good enough
1/
2 Digilocker: Single tamper-proof repository of all your important documents. Excellent Govt service, use it if you don't
3 Fuel price deregulation: No need to wonder how much subsidy GoI will release, for which product, how it'll be financed, how will the finance be repaid?
4 C-forms: Part of GST rollout but needs an honourable mention as it was a nightmare for MSMEs. Issued on security paper (the same secure printing as a cheque leaf), no need for maintaining a register, keeping stock, indenting from the Dept & then politely chasing them for a few.
No need to send it to vendors, ensuring it is received, following up with suppliers who haven't given you their C-Form, then having an Inspector drop in to cross-check if you've done any C-Form fraud & then keeping him happy you haven't or making him a beneficiary in the "fraud"
5 Simplified HR compliances. Before a small firm hires an employee, they'd have to think if cumbersome compliances made it worth the hire. Even for employees, a single Provident Fund UAN means they can change jobs & port the PF account. Now, taken for granted
6 Tout-free Govt offices: Remember the Passport Office? They had an ecosystem of typists, brokers, agents, fixers who would pontificate on the rules, sell forms, know the mind & hearts of Babus within. Approaching a Govt office directly, by passing these brokers, was blasphemy.
Staff would say "Get a good broker who knows the rules & ensures your documents are proper". It was normal to have a dalal between you & Sarkar. It was called "proper channels", till 2014
Some dalals have relocated to Shambhu border, wherever it is
Rest have reskilled or retired
7 Scam-a-day: Gone are the days where every morning, headlines would scream about a new scam that "goes all the way, to the very top". We never realised that the term "corridors of power" confessed that power was no longer vested in the offices but in the stealthy, dark corridors
8 "Precious foreign exchange": Tickets, visas, hotels bookings looked easy compared to procuring foreign exchange. The interchange rates were lousy, the daily spending limits miserly & it was all done in the name of conserving "precious foreign exchange".
A man driving on the highway was stopped by the highway patrol
Cop: Do you know why I stopped you?
Man: Coz you're a Brahmin & this is #BrahminicalPatriarchy at work?
C: No! My caste has nothing to do with this. You're driving on the wrong side of the road
1/
M: I work for @Twitter & our community standards guide tells us we have to drive on the right side of the road
C: That guide was written in USA. You're now in India. You need to drive on the left
M: Though it's not the international standard, I'll strive to drive on the left
2/
C: No, no. If you drive on the wrong side I'll have to write up a ticket
M: Ok. I'll strive to drive on the left & tie up with India's opposition & NGOs to advocate we drive on the right. Can I go now?
C: I'm done! I'm writing a ticket
M: Now you're intimidating me! Fascist!
3/3
Think about this & connect the dots
1 There's a growing feeling the #CCPVirus leaked from the lab & didn't jump from animals in Wuhan wet market.
2. If it was a deliberate leak, it makes more sense to experiment with the smaller & hostile Vietnam or the puppet State of
North Korea or even Taiwan & bring them to their knees. Even their long-pending invasion of Taiwan would have been possible.
3. But Wuhan (China's industrial heartland & pharma manufacturing hub) being the epicentre, shows it has to be accidental
4. Also, if the leak had been deliberate, China would have known EXACTLY what the next steps would be & wouldn't have been caught off-guard. They were lost & confused in the initial days. And, no. They weren't pretending.
@Mahesh10816@JumbuTweeple Typing as it comes, please bear with me:
The Bretton Woods system was created in the aftermath of WW2 by the winning allies. IMF, World Bank and the framework for the international monetary system was set up (favourable to the US).
Under this system, countries could print as
1/
@Mahesh10816@JumbuTweeple currency as they needed provided it was backed by assets, typically Gold, for it easily liquid and a store of value
This was called the Gold Standard. It meant that if you return $1000 to the US Fed, they would have to give you $1000 worth of Gold
Till Nixon became President
2/
@Mahesh10816@JumbuTweeple Under Nixon, it was suspected that the US was printing currency but not putting an equivalent amount of Gold into their reserves
The French got wind of this and started returning US$. This meant, at one point of time, the US would run out of Gold
Before #TNElections , I asked some farm-workers I know about their vote & the ladies, without batting an eyelid, said, "We're voting for the IPS Officer!"
I explained you were in BJP & as per your alliance, @AIADMK was contesting Thanjavur
They thought for a moment & said, "In that case, DMK!"
I was shocked & asked why & without any advice from @PrashantKishor , they said, "Because they're winning this election!"
You have tremendous grassroots goodwill; pl encash it
You can win the next election, if you do these 10 things:
1 Stand alone, not as part of an alliance with corrupt AIADMK: There is a widespread belief in TN that all politicians are thieves எல்லோரும் திருடர்கள்

This is a verbatim excerpt of an account by Mrs Harsha Oza, wife of India's Ambassador to Sweden when PM Rajiv Gandhi visited Stockholm in 1988, #Bofors was already in the open
The snippet was published in June 1999, last two tweets are SHOCKING!
Sonia Gandhi, together with her children Rahul & Priyanka, accompanied PM Rajiv Gandhi on his official visit to Stockholm in January 1988. As per prescribed protocol, I, Harsha Oza as the wife of Indian Ambassador, was required to escort & accompany Sonia Gandhi
on her visits to art galleries, museums, schools, etc., as per separate programme arranged for her by the Swedish authorities, while Rajiv Gandhi was occupied with his schedule of official meetings & discussions with his counterparts.
