"If you often procrastinate, read this"

🧵 THREAD TIME: 👇
1. Procrastination is the silent dream killer.

The only difference between success and failure is the ability to take action.
2. If you put off everything till you’re sure of it, you’ll never get anything done.

The best way to get something done is to begin.
3. The habit of always putting off an experience until you can afford it, or until the time is right, or until you know how to do it is one of the greatest burglars of joy.

Be deliberate, but once you’ve made up your mind -jump in.
4. If you're a procrastinator, you will find every excuse not to do what you need to do.

DO IT FIRST, I call it reverse procrastination.
5. You procrastinate because you always think short-term, and you focus on what is in front of you.

you must change your thinking from focusing on the short-term to the long-term.
6. U focus too much on the fear or pain of doing the work.

The fear isn't real. It is something u projected inside ur mind

When u think about the pain, u will want to run away & procrastinate doing the work

whenever u are afraid of doing sth, just don’t think about it & do it
7. Stop being a perfectionist.

Putting off an easy thing makes it hard, and putting off a hard one makes it impossible.
8. Procrastination is a vicious cycle that seems harmless.

You + Procrastination + no focus = you’re stressed to the max and can’t get any work done.
8. You’re more likely to start your task and finish it all if you write it down and check things off of your list as you complete them
9. Break down the task into the smallest possible pieces.
Often procrastination stems from lack of perspective of either the end goal, what can be done now and what should be done next.

Breaking projects down into their smallest form makes them more manageable.
10. Tell yourself the magic phrase:

“I will just do X for 2 minutes”.
When you give yourself permission to only do something for 2 minutes and then stop, you trick yourself to do it.
What usually happens is that you’ll get started and then when the 2 minutes are over, you want to keep going.

As you do this more often, you can increase it to 5 minutes, to 10 minutes, and eventually an hour.
