A succinct statement of what I call “the Successor Ideology”, which is the coalescence of every strand of academic radicalism into a single synoptic account of the oppression inherent in what Kelley calls “liberal multiculturalism.”
His identification of slavery with colonization makes sense; his invocation of all forms of gender normativity feels perfunctory and tacked on; but it is this insistence on the unity of all oppression that is the distinctive move
How would we pursue his vision of the world throughthe framework of American constitutional government and corporate capitalism?

To pose this question is to conjure up the activities of the activist class since 2011....
In some ways this is just what 50 years of academics outflanking each other in an intramural language game to be more radical inexorably yields...nobody thought it would influence urban policy or the medical profession....
Nor did they think it would be made compulsory by the state in K-12 schools. But here we are.
Thinkers like Kelley weave the various critiques into the unity of all oppression tapestry; activists work on promulgating the language and imposing consequence on those who don’t defer to it
No one has been canceled for fatphobia or anthropocentrism or speciesism — yet
OK, it's not succinct. But this part is:
This children's book author shares the same ideological grounding and premises as Kelley. Her widely acclaimed book is being taught to 5 year olds.

“It’s some of the most shoddy, methodologically flawed research we’ve ever seen published in these journals,” the doctor in the Zoom meeting said, “with sensational conclusions that seem totally unjustified from the results of the study.”bariweiss.substack.com/p/what-happens…
Recall debates I had in 2019 with folx smugly assuring me that the scope of wokeness would remain confined to universities and cultural bureaucracies.

It was always going to infect critical disciplines like medicine.
Many new forms of activism will as a certainty inflict "total disaster", help no one, and accrue a large body count of those who might otherwise have lived as those pushing for them congratulate themselves on pursuing justice bariweiss.substack.com/p/what-happens…

I hate all the companies that advertise on YouTube -- that soap guy, "manscaped", all the financial market scammers
The Amazon sellers...Are they making huge bank off of this crap?
I guess YouTube may have an interest in having the ads be annoying to sell more premium subscriptions. But the brands have an interest in not being annoying.

Both the MAGA and the equity agendas are deconstructed by the existence of a non-white immigrant group that outperforms all native groups, including whites, on certain key metrics.

Both of those tweets are trolls working out the inconsistent inner logic of two ways of looking at something that resists simple partisan framing -- and that calls on us to think harder....
Sorry guys, I'm sure you know MAGA types that are not bigots or xenophobes and only care about the legality of immigration.

But a movement that seeks to end birthright citizenship is taking a big step beyond that.

Jeremy Lin on his experience in the NBA

This is why Asians max out on all the quantitative measures they can.
But precisely because they max out so much, they effectively broke the curve on testing and now they're getting rid of the tests altogether....
They did a study where they sent emails to professors seeking meetings using various racially coded names.

The names that were likely least likely to receive a reply by a wide margin were those from names that sounded Asian.
