"If you have anxiety, read this."

🧵 THREAD TIME: 👇
1. There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things that are beyond the power of our will.

"Imagine how effective you would be if you weren’t anxious all the time."
2. Nothing is as chaotic as it seems. Nothing is worth your health. Nothing is worth poisoning yourself into stress, anxiety, and fear.

Smile, breathe and go slowly.
3. We suffer more often in imagination that in reality.

How much pain have cost us the evils which have never happened.
4. Anxiety’s like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you very far.

Nothing diminishes anxiety faster than action.
5. Inner peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions.
6. Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.
7. Not getting enough sleep time can worsen anxiety.

Happiness consists of getting enough sleep.
8. Your mind controls much of your body, and that’s certainly true with anxiety.

When you’re upset or frustrated, the words you say to yourself can trigger greater feelings of anxiety.

Be Kind to Yourself.
8. Accept things as they are.

If you try to change something that you really can’t change, then you’ll just be creating unnecessary stress.
9. Taking a break may mean that you can perform much better afterward.

Even just ‘taking five’ can recharge your batteries and give you greater clarity of thought.

Relaxation will help your body return to its normal healthy state.
10. Practice belly breathing

- Sit down on a comfortable, flat surface.

- Release your shoulders into a relaxed position.

- Place one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach.
- Breathe in through your nose for two seconds, feeling the air push your stomach outwards. Your chest should remain still while your stomach expands.

- Purse your lips while pressing lightly on your stomach. Then, exhale for two seconds.
11. Write down how you’re feeling

Jot a few notes to yourself… about the things that you have done, not the things you worry about or where you have struggled.

Remembering the good is a great way to combat anxiety, as is writing down what you’re experiencing.
12. Go easy on yourself, everything will be alright.
13. You're important and you matter.
