If i could form a team. Meaning if i had the resources or the public support to do it. I would address the following:
- Legal aide to those who need it to gain financial foothold (E.g. Child support, alimony, owe the IRS)
🧵
- Provide dorm room like housing to the working homeless. (The room no bigger than a jail cell with a bed, fridge, microwave, standing shower)
They would only need 3-6 months of rent free assistance to save up to get their own place.
Or something like this Tiny NY Apartment.
For living assistance to work: I would need the public support needed to buy the apartments needed to do the needed renovations.
The goal would be every 3-6 months getting the homeless with jobs out of the program into their own place.
So i would have someone on the team that is 110% excellent at sorting through listing and as a perk, is a real estate agent whom makes their commission from the landlords for finding tenants.
If i was at the helm, as CEO. I would take nothing. Only because i don't like the idea of being a "let's help the homeless but make a buck while we're at it".
The only profit needed would be to pay the team and keep overhead to a minimum: Meaning no brick and motor & work from home (this is what Discord, Zoom, Skype, etc is for)
The biggest cost in long term would be the legal team to clear up legal matters that are baring the homeless from moving forward because of awful court rulings that are unreasonable and stopping that person progression on the path towards contributing back to society again.
The two biggest obstacles in the way to getting such a plan off the ground:
-real estate
-funding
Without these two things: it's not going anywhere anytime soon.
Gavin signed a 12B Bill to address homelessness in CA. 4.6B can make a huge dent to house the homeless in normal everyday apartments at 70k per unit (unit is family or individual) for ample time to self sustaining stability. Why is that not being used? it help at least 66k ppl.🧵
Instead what we are seeing is that money being wastefully spent on encampment clean ups across the state.
I'm in the database with DPSS & CA DMH for needing mental health treatment & not one phone call. So somebody tell me, where is that money being spent on mental health at?
Yes Washington needs to step-in but not give more money, to control the state misuse of funds as Gavin has been doing.
The Vax for the Win Lottery & Now Energy saving. Then his office not doing jack anything about the misuse of funds from H & HHH
By sharing the video i posted. I agree with the sentiment. Meaning the attitude toward a situation.
I PERSONALLY don't believe in faith based support because I am non religious: meaning not relating to or believing in a religion.
My faith goes as far as: something put us here, if you want to call it 'xyz'. Then that is on you. I don't want to be wrong in the end.
I believe there is something greater than us as the human race.
There is OPINIONS that Andy has shared that i do not 100% support but i don't speak against it because he is on a different path from mine. So whom am i to say how he should drive in his lane when i am in my own lane.
I've come to the idea of forming 'Coalition for Change'.
To make a nonprofit that is not influenced by politics, is not under the control of the City/County or State. That isn't LAHSA & will never be like LAHSA. #homesnotzones #4118 #SeizeTheHotels#HomelessLivesMatter
This means the nonprofit it's self has to be 100% publicly funded, not by any money from any form of government. To be funded by the public & directly from the public. H & HHH are the failed examples of why this is needed. #homesnotzones #4118 #SeizeTheHotels#HomelessLivesMatter
EVEN L.A. City Council wants out of the deal with the County because LAHSA was supposed to be a joint power between City & County. #SeizeTheHotels#HomelessLivesMatter
