🧵Deeply honored to be on the cover of @CityAndStateNY's Albany Power 100 issue. I would not have found the courage to come forward had it not been for #MeToo & the bold women who came before me, & I am so grateful to the women who followed & validated me. bit.ly/3gb7rSg
I was not seeking power when I came forward; in fact, it felt like the most self-destructive thing I could do. But then the most amazing thing happened. Other women joined me in sharing their stories, and together we challenged the most powerful man in the state.
.@NYGovCuomo's abuses are not limited to women. He abused his position by hiding nursing home deaths, securing VIP COVID tests, using his govt. staff to write him a $5 million book on the backs of COVID victims & linking vaccine access to loyalty from county execs.
But we were not the only ones to claim our power. The ppl who have been doing the work on the ground to pass progressive reforms @NYGovCuomo opposed — from marijuana legalization to cash support for the unemployed who were not eligible for benefits — got it done in spite of him.
When you stand up to bullies, they punch back, as @NYGovCuomo & his team did to me. But there is strength in numbers, & we won't be silenced. If you're reading this but not ready to share your story, that's OK. I'm here for you & will fight twice as hard & twice as loud for you.
