The #PoorPeoplesCampaign is announcing today that on Monday, June 14, we will hold a Moral March on Manchin in West Virginia, led by West Virginians of all colors, creeds, etc. from the hood to the hollers.
Then West Virginians and Kentuckians will lead a Moral March and nonviolent direct action on Manchin and McConnell on Wednesday, June 23, in Washington, DC.
The #PoorPeoplesCampaign and its prophetic clergy council will reach out to others who wish to join poor and low-wealth people of every race, creed, geography, etc. to stand up and challenge Manchin.
Manchin's policies hurt poor & low-wealth people. He's against $15/hr living wages & expanding voting rights. He is supported by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce & has abandoned the poor & low-wealth ppl of his own state & the nation, & they're tired of it!
Manchin's positions are wrong, constitutionally inconsistent, historically inaccurate, morally indefensible, economically insane, and politically unacceptable.
As Pam, a low-wage worker from the mountains of WV says, "Manchin just wants to shut up anyone who stands against injustice, but we're tired of it. We're hardly surviving! There are over 900,000 poor & low-wealth ppl in WV, over 45% of pop. & Sen Manchin is abandoning all of us."
