I cannot get over the fact that Joe Manchin says voting rights legislation must have “bipartisan” supermajority when Republicans brazenly changing the rules in the states to prevent Dems from ever winning another fair election. Total unilateral disarmament
Republicans are engaged in greatest roll back of voting rights since Reconstruction but we’re supposed to believe 10 GOP senators will support new Voting Rights Act? C’mon Joe Manchin
I don't recall Republicans asking for bipartisan support before they introduced 400 voter suppression bills & enacted 22 new voter suppression laws in 14 states so far this year

How GOP voter suppression works in Texas:

-you can vote with gun permit but not student ID

-no online voter registration

-must be deputized to register voters

-voters under 65 can’t use fear of covid to vote by mail

-750 polling places closed since SCOTUS gutted VRA
Texas is already one of hardest states to vote in. That’s why it ranked 44th in voter turnout in 2020

Now #SB7 would make it even harder to vote & easier for GOP to overturn elections

New: Iowa House Democrats have filed ethics complaints against Heritage Action & Heritage Foundation for boasting to donors about writing voter suppression laws in leaked video reported by @MotherJones but failing to register as lobbyists in state motherjones.com/politics/2021/…

But legislative Rs say group lying & didn't register as lobbyists as required by law
Heritage claimed to write "three provisions" in Iowa voter suppression bill, including one that has put nearly 300,000 voters at risk of being purged

Iowa watchdog agency also beginning investigation into whether group lobbied Gov Reynolds & didn’t disclose it
