Also, @Sen_JoeManchin and @SenatorSinema have said they'd vote for the #JohnLewisVotingRightsAct but not #ForThePeopleAct. @SenSchumer said he'd bring the John Lewis VRA to the floor in June. It has a great updated coverage formula which SCOTUS gutted in 2013.

2) Coverage Formula? When SCOTUS gutted the VRA in 2013 it did so by invalidating the coverage formula of Section 4(b) that determined Section 5 pre-clearance requirement. In simpler terms, states had to "pre-clear" changes to their voting laws with the federal government (DOJ).

3)If we pass the #JohnLewisVotingRightsAct volia! States will have to ask first before they change their voting laws again (usually discriminatory laws). The problem is it'll only apply to NEW* laws and not the ones that are currently in place (but lawyers are working on that).

4)Now what about #ForThePeopleAct? Let me tell you something, this is a zexy piece of policy! It has all the bells in whistles in it: it'd guarantee the right for people with disabilities to use absentee voting, it'd have 6:1 small-dollar campaign finance matching...

5)#ForThePeopleAct would make presidential and vice-presidential candidates publicly disclose their previous 10 years of income tax returns. It'd make SuperPAC's & "dark money" (hate that phrase) donors transparent AND THAT'S WHY MANCHIN, SINEMA, AND REPUBLICANS WON'T VOTE FOR IT

7)@SenSchumer @VP need to get in a room w/@Sen_JoeManchin and @SenatorSinema and make them watch Selma and remind them how they are specifically harming BIPOC, LGBTQ, and Disabled Voters. Then tell them it's time to get rid of the filibuster or democracy will not survive, period.
