He is referred as Bhagavan by the Adivasis of his region.
Birsa was a Tribal Leader, Freedom Fighter who died mysteriously under the British captivity.
Birsa not only fought against British but also against Christian
Missionaries, he knew how the Missionaries lured the poor tribals, make them slog in their farms and estates, paid them meager wages, and destroyed the forest wealth.
His profound knowledge about the forest terrains and also his Oratory skills was an advantage, he amassed
large number of tribals and inspired them to revolt against British, Missionaries and their puppets, The Zamindars.
His Guerrilla Warfare techniques gave headache for the British, they couldn't locate him as he used to skip them in the forests.
Finally he was captured in a
forest while he was sleeping...
Birsa was brought to jail and before announcement of punishment, he passed away.
British said he died due to Cholera but people say he was executed.
Nevertheless, another gem of our freedom struggle attained Veera Marana and he was just 25 then.
The Dalit Champions and Left Loving Intellectuals never gave him his due until BJP Govt recognised him and his Veergati Divas as #JharkhandDay

Remembering an icon #KSHegde on his Jayanti.
He established now world renowned #NITTE.
Bishan Tandon's book on events leading to imposition of Emergency, PMO Diary, said that Indira Gandhi was "terribly afraid" of this person becoming the CJI.
He resigned as Supreme Court Judge

VOC launched Swadeshi Steamship company in 1906 to compete and break the monopoly of British India Navigation company as he felt that British make money through trade. But British got him under sedition charges and he lost all the money fighting court cases and the steamship
company was liquidated.
South Indians in South Africa collected money for VOC and handed it over to Gandhi. VOC, then under dire poverty, corresponded with Gandhi for more than 5 years but never got the money from Gandhi.
Between the middle of 1915 and early 1916, Gandhi
We find a sense of fellow-feeling and helpfulness for the oppressed in the preaching of Guru Shri Teg Bahadurji:
Baanhi jinhan di pakadiye, sir dijiye baanhi na chhodye, Guru Teg Bahadur bolya, dharati pai dharam na chodye. (Whomsoever you provide protection, you should be
prepared to sacrifice yourself but not that protection. Guru Teg Bahadur asks you not to forsake your religion on this earth.)
After his sacrifice, suddenly, we sense a warrior spirit in the preaching of Guru Gobind Singhji. When he realised that a mere spiritual devotion
could not do anything, he started Chandi worship and turned Sikh community into a community of worshippers and warriors by synthesising spiritualism and fighting.
The above lines were written by
Bhagath Singh in his Jail Diary.

#PanditRamchandraKak needed to remind us that Kashmir is a wellspring of our civilization, and it is that understanding that guided the principles for which he stood and defended as prime minister of Jammu and Kashmir. We forget too
that Jammu was Jambu, that gave its name to Jambudvipa, that became the name of our entire land. What began as Kasyapa-pur and Jambu, and is today a truncated Jammu and Kashmir, is thus at the very core of our civilisational identity.
He lead his final 36 years of glorious life
in solitary, probable reason could be DISENCHANTMENT on Kashmir/Bharat.
Rama Chandra Kak, another victim of Gandhi's Stupidity, Sardar's Blind Loyalty & Nehru's Vengeance.
