eric adams inviting the press into his brooklyn home to counter rumors that he doesnt live in NYC and then being forced to explain increasingly damning clues that it's actually his son's house is already the best story of the new york mayoral race. how are more people not on this

"welcome to my normal home, in new york city. oh him? he's my son, he visits sometimes. and this is my classic new york mini fridge. this salmon? that's my son's, we share the fridge sometimes. and this is my new york bed. yes those are my son's shoes, we share the bed sometimes"

im sure having a powerful father is a good gig overall but you have to feel a little bad for the guy. adams calls him up like "hey son i need to borrow your house for a few hours" and now he's being briefed to tell the press that he pressured his dad into sharing one toothbrush

now this is what im looking for from NYC journos. the new york times dug up the building's utility records and found a tenant was recorded as living in this unit two years after adams says he moved in. at least someone is trying to keep up with eric krebs nytimes.com/2021/06/09/nyr…

trying to strike a careful balance here between the new yorkers laughing because adams lives in new jersey, and the non-new yorkers laughing because he decided it would be less risky to set up a fake house tour for national media than admit to voters that he lives in new jersey

since the real reporters arent allowed to speculate, my personal theory is adams:
- lives in NJ, sleeps at work when he's busy
- listed his address here in 2017 for his beep campaign
- kept renting this unit out through 2019
- let his son move in last year when colleges shut down

- somehow didnt expect reporters to actually go as far as knocking on the door and decided to go for the greatest double down of all time

this revelation, combined with the detail from the NYT article and the zillow listing, now has me wondering if adams split this lady's two-floor apartment in half to make room for his son when colleges shut down and gave her the floor with no bathroom

sorry if this wasnt clear: the building has four floors and the basement apartment has a bathroom, so unless the most recent listing was incorrect or obsolete, i cant see a scenario where this lady still has a bathroom too
