My apologies for a RT of a RT of a RT - required because commenting directly to Dr. Saxinger would result in typos, etc (looking for our edit button, @jack).
And Dr. Saxinger has a great point here, which deserves an adequate response.
There was lots of nosocomial transmissions, "AHS said it appears that all but the first case were acquired in hospital."
Not surprised - there is a gap in the Alberta Health Services PPE guidelines.
No airborne precautions.
But not to worry - oh, I'm sorry, there is another problem? The surgical mask that they are issued is so bad that they have an actual warning on their PPE page?
Because the fit on that provided surgical mask is particularly bad?
Back to the study that Alberta should be looking at more closely.
Specifically, airborne precautions that were not labelled as such.
Improved spacing between trolleys at least 6 feet apart. This means less AGP's packed into the same square footage.
AGP= Aerosol Generating Person.
Fewer AGP's= less aerosol being produced.
Next..high risk got their own isolation wards. So, again, a focus on airborne prevention.
From February 2020, given ongoing community transmission, lower-risk individuals were segregated in dedicated general wards, termed as “respiratory surveillance wards”
Airborne prevention is key, as we can all see below.
Namely, N95's UNTIL CoVid was excluded, specifically.
And the number of AGP's reduced by "reduced number of beds per cubicle".
Remember in the second tweet, where I said that Singapore's swiss cheese model would actually show that N95/N100's are even more important?
Imagine all of the additional aerosol preventive steps gone.
More Aerosol Generating People means more aerosols. Which then makes those respirators that much more important.
@AntibioticDoc - I stand by my RT of the Singapore study.
I'd recommend Alberta learn from it, including the wider usage of N95's, lest their model look like:

"VZV (human herpesvirus 3) is a ubiquitous, exclusively human DNA virus. Primary infection occurs via respiratory aerosols or contact with vesicles from an infected individual and results in the characteristic disseminated rash of ...chickenpox."
If the athletes get the best vaccines, you will have many stories in the Japanese press about the deaths of the Japanese while the athletes enjoy the beauty of Japan.
If they don't get the best, then you will have the vaccine inequity stories. "USA wins again thanks to Pfizer!"
Plus, there will bound to be poorer nation athletes who get drastically sick in Japan.
