We traced the source materials for this propaganda video; it is from B'tselem articles and videos from June 2017 & May 2018. However there are significant omissions.
- The fence and gate was put in place because of routine stone throwing at civilians, cars passing by, the bus stop across the street and border police. There was also a fatal stabbing attack of a civilian there, Genadi Kaufman, in 2015.
- The main entrance to that part of the casbah is approx 70 meters down the road which is open 24/7. The gate in question is normally open from 7am to 11pm. It also gets locked temporarily if there have been stone throwing incidents, for the safety of passers by & border police.
- There are Arabic people on both side of the fence / gate as seen in various videos and photos. (video credit Amit Deri)
@abierkhatib who shared the video appears to have some disturbing bigoted views. @OpenSociety is she still employed by you?

As we showed you, the current video circulating which falsely attempts to show Bassam al-Kiswani, 11, being arrested by Israeli police is disinformation. But it gets worse. This child appears in a video footage that advocates for terrorist acts.
This video is of Bassam. It was found on his mother's Facebook. He is seen in a child’s bedroom & he was apparently being coached to draw a knife from his trousers & make stabbing motions. The song for the video appear to show support for terrorism & “sacrificing my soul & blood”
We discovered other disturbing posts on Basam's mother Facebook page including support for violence, terrorism, and a one-state.
Fadi Washha was a terrorist and a member of the proscribed al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades. This thread describing his death is a muddle of disinformation and propaganda. Let us explain.
#FadiWashha served several prison sentences for terrorism offences, the last one from 2014 to 2019.
Fadi and his cousin Muataz Washha were involved in a 25 February 2014 shooting attack. Fadi admitted to this and even surrendered the weapon used in the attack. See Israeli Security Agency statement at shabak.gov.il/publications/P…

@nytimes Saber Ibrahim Suleiman, an al-Qassam Brigades commander in Jabalia, was killed in an @IDF airstrike. His son Mohammad Suleiman who appears in your "They were only children" photo essay was killed along with him in the attack.
Allow us to show you something
We also discovered Facebook posts / photos showing Mohammad Suleiman in combat uniform and holding weapons.
We wonder whether @nytimes (and @DCIPalestine) were aware of this before going to print as the information was posted to Twitter on 11 May 2021.
The embedded video is an edited segment from a Dana Weiss @danawt June 2016 investigative report for @N12News titled "Special Project: Jerusalem the next generation'".
The report highlighted the situation at the time in both Arab and Jewish schools.
