#Breaking: Gladys Berejiklian has revealed a THIRD person has tested positive to COVID-19 in Sydney.
The third case is a woman, 70, who was at the Bell Cafe in Vaucluse. #COVID19NSW#Sydney
The NSW Premier says a fourth person, a man in his 40s, has also tested positive in the Baulkham Hills area.
However, health officials are currently determining whether the man returned a false positive, or whether his viral load was low. #COVID19NSW#COVID19
BEREJIKLIAN: "If you're in the eastern suburbs, unless you absolutely have to attend a large gathering, unless you absolutely have to engage in activities of a social nature in the next few days, we ask everybody to refrain from that." #COVID19NSW#Sydney#Bondi
#Breaking: Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant has confirmed the limousine driver who transported international flight crew has the DELTA strain of COVID-19.
His strain does not match any previous cases in Australia at this time. #COVID19NSW#Sydney#Bondi
Dr Chant says the limousine driver and his wife attended a number of venues while infectious.
Four family close contacts and two close work contacts have so far tested negative, but will be in quarantine for a full 14 days. #COVID19NSW#COVID19
CHANT: "We consider all people who were at [Bell Cafe] at the same time as the driver to be a close contact and they must all be tested and isolate for 14 days after that visit. We're urging everyone to take the request for testing seriously." #COVID19NSW#Bondi
Dr Kerry Chant says the man in his 40s from Sydney's northwest who returned an initial positive test has so far not been linked to any listed COVID-19 exposure sites. #COVID19NSW#Bondi
CHANT: "We had about 450 people ring the call line last night to self-declare they were a contact venue. Thank you for the community response. We know that there's been a strong response to testing." #COVID19NSW#COVID19#Bondi
Health Minister Brad Hazzard says right now, there's "no room for complacency".
"Being slack about what the health authorities ask you to do is just inexcusable. We have to make sure that we all follow the rules." #COVID19NSW#Bondi
HAZZARD: "I will remind all drivers who pick people up from the airport more broadly is that you have obligations and your obligations are legal and they are to get saliva-tested every day and to make sure you wear appropriate PPE." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
Brad Hazzard has asked anyone in the eastern suburbs who hop onto a bus to wear a mask.
"It's sensible, it's safe for you but it also stops, hopefully,
any transmission to anybody else that might be in the bus." #COVID19NSW#COVID19
Gladys Berejiklian could not confirm if the infected limousine driver was vaccinated.
"In terms of the daily testing, in terms of what we require from people within the system in relation to
vaccinations. If there has been any breach, that would be recorded." #COVID19NSW
Gladys Berejiklian says all permanent employees in the hotel quarantine system have been vaccinated.
But she said new people -- "subcontractors of subcontractors" -- coming into the system every day may not have been fully vaccinated. #COVID19NSW#COVID19
BEREJIKLIAN: "There are strict guidelines that all drivers, limousine drivers or otherwise, subcontractors or otherwise to follow in the system."
Dr Kerry Chant says the limousine driver only engaged with salivary testing on June 15, when he submitted his positive test.
"That [limousine driver] had recently engaged in the salivary testing program and hadn't been prior to that." #COVID19NSW#Bondi
The CHO says all flight crew, including the FedEx crew at the centre of this outbreak, would have only been in the country for 24 to 48 hours before their flight was turned around.
"You have to treat everyone who comes from overseas as potentially infectious." #COVID19NSW
CHANT: "The obvious hypothesis is he has transported a flight crew who has subsequently been testing positive. We need to check and double check. With those caveats, if that is the possible hypothesis he has not been infectious before the 11th." #COVID19NSW#Bondi
