#Breaking: NSW has recorded ONE new locally acquired case of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian is currently updating reporters on Sydney's latest COVID-19 outbreak. #COVID19NSW#Sydney#Bondi
The new case is a man in his 50s who had fleeting contact with an infected case at the Myer in Bondi Junction Westfield.
So far, none of the close contacts of the possible COVID-19 case in Baulkham Hills have tested positive. #COVID19NSW#Sydney
BEREJIKLIAN: "If NSW Health has updated [an exposure site] from a casual contact to a close contact that you immediately isolate for 14 days." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
#Breaking: Masks will be required on public transport in Greater Sydney (excluding the Central Coast and Wollongong) for the next five days. #COVID19NSW#Sydney
Gladys Berejiklian also says the government will recommend mask wearing at all indoor venues, especially if social distancing can't be maintained.
BEREJIKLIAN: "So we are strongly recommending that if you are a casual contact that you not travel in the next little while and make sure you follow the health advice." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
Gladys Berejiklian says the outbreak is not cause for panic.
"We want everyone to appreciate that it all of us do the right thing, we are able to get through the next few days without imposing any further requirements on our population." #COVID19NSW#Sydney#Bondi
Berejiklian says anyone taking public transport in Sydney -- including travellers -- must also wear a mask.
"If you are catching public transport in Sydney the next few days make sure you are wearing a mask." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant says the new COVID-19 case visited venues in Redfern, Newtown, Bondi Junction and Campbelltown while potentially infectious.
"We are concerned that people may not have been aware of their exposure." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
Dr Chant says the person who became infected at the Belle Cafe in Vaucluse was seated outside, and had no known contact with the initial case.
"Obviously we cannot rule out that there were some crossover when they were ordering or other things." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
#Breaking Anyone at Level 2 or Level 4 of Myer Bondi Junction between 10:55am and 11:15am on June 12 is now considered a close contact.
They will need to get tested and quarantine until June 26. #COVID19NSW#Sydney
Dr Chant says they've used CCTV within Myer to determine the new COVID case was in the same section as an existing positive case.
Work is now underway to determine whether there was any "inadvertent passing". #COVID19NSW#Sydney
Gladys Berejiklian says this new case is a reminder for people to maintain social distancing, use QR codes and sanitise their hands.
"Just don't expose yourself or your loved ones to any risk." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
When asked whether more restrictions should be imposed, the Premier says the response is proportionate to the current risk.
"Every time we have an outbreak we take what we learn into the next one and try not to burden our citizens or
businesses unless we absolutely have to."
BEREJIKLIAN: "What we do definitely want people to do is if you are catching public transport, please, it is compulsory. That is the only thing compulsory between now and Wednesday night." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
Gladys Berejiklian says any casual contacts of a positive case should "not go anywhere", as NSW Health could upgrade their exposure site to a close contact venue. #COVID19NSW#Sydney#Bondi
BEREJIKLIAN: "If suddenly there are a number of cases that emerge which we don't expect from a link that will cause us concern and we will have to go further." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
BEREJIKLIAN: "Every time now until the next five days in particular, any time we leave our home we have to assume we have the virus or the people we are coming into contact with have the virus." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
Gladys Berejiklian has expressed further frustration about the vaccine rollout.
"We need to be far more ambitious about how we vaccinate our population, how quickly we think about opening up our quickly we think about COVID normal, because otherwise we will get left behind."
Dr Chant confirms the number of people required to isolate for two weeks is now "well over 100".
"If we see the next ring [of contacts] becoming positive before we get to them, that raises a concern because it means we are chasing our tails." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
Gladys Berejiklian has not been drawn on "casting aspersions" over the limousine driver who tested positive.
"There is no point dealing in speculation. In a pandemic if you deal with speculation you get in trouble. We deal with the facts." #COVID19NSW#Sydney
BEREJIKLIAN: "Imagine if any of us had to think about what we had done in the last two weeks of the last week, it would be really hard. We are relying on people's goodwill and can I just thank everyone for their goodwill." #COVID19NSW#Sydney#Bondi
When asked whether there are some contractors on the COVID-19 frontline not doing the right thing, Health Minister Brad Hazzard says "no system is perfect".
"Every day we go to work we make sure that we are doing everything possible to make sure it stays safe." #COVID19NSW

BEREJIKLIAN: "If you're in the eastern suburbs, unless you absolutely have to attend a large gathering, unless you absolutely have to engage in activities of a social nature in the next few days, we ask everybody to refrain from that." #COVID19NSW#Sydney#Bondi
