The human experience hasn't changed in millions of year. We still feel anger, shame, guilt, joy, pleasure in pretty much the same way that our ancestors did as they traversed the globe finding stuff to eat.

But what has changed?

Our ability to articulate that experience.

It makes me think about how people have been experiencing awakening for a long time.

The awakening experience seems to be something fundamental to human beings (see the being part of that statement).

But we have been able to refine our understanding of that state exquisitely.

But even this was pretty exquisite a thousand years ago.

I'm reading this book of a translation of a spiritual masterpiece from the Tantrik lineage in Kashmir from 900AD.

Its one of the most reliable God triggers I have found.

In it, it explicitly rejects that the void

It doesn't reject the void as an experience, but it rejects the void as the Absolute.

The Absolute is our innate awareness (but the words don't really get you there).

Ever since you have existed you have been aware, even in deep sleep.

There is no memory of awareness in deep sleep, but memory is not a reliable gauge of truth.

You were aware, you just don't remember it.

This awareness is so subtle. It cannot be objectified. You can pretend to objectify it but that just turns into an object and thus not subject

The awareness is the subject. Its always there and it's almost completely ignored for sake of the objects in front of us.

But what would happen if both object and subject were both a function or a substratum of that awareness.

If you tune into it right now you can maybe notice that whatever object you turn your eyes towards is impossible to perceive without that your awareness. There is nothing that you have ever perceived that is outside of awareness. Its quite literally all appearing in awareness.

So the void too can be experienced in awareness. Awareness is foundational. There is no existence without awareness. The two coexist.
