The Refugee Story Bank of Canada is a new initiative to collect and showcase personal stories by migrants who have sought protection in this country from violence, war, oppression, discrimination and persecution.
thestar.com/news/canada/20…
Just before #WorldRefugeeDay on Sunday, the creators launched a website to expand what was a book project into a full repository for Canadian refugee stories.
thestar.com/news/canada/20…
“All of our stories are authentic because they came from the hearts of the refugees. They are not polished," said Boban Stojanović, whose story is one of many featured by the initiative

“This is important for our collective memories and for a better understanding of refugees, who are part of Canada. I want to believe my story can be a motivation for others to share theirs.” thestar.com/news/canada/20…

Inspections were promised to stop the rampant abuse inside sweatshops. So why are workers’ conditions ‘worse than ever before?’

Investigation by @thecribby, @Em_CRJ and @kellyrbennett: thestar.com/news/investiga… Image
Since global awareness of sweatshop conditions emerged in the '90s, international brands have relied on auditor spot checks to address issues ranging from human rights abuses to building safety
thestar.com/news/investiga…
The promise of equitable working conditions and wages for those who make our clothes has been more a triumph of messaging than meaningful reform, this joint investigation found.
