While here in El Paso, @VP is meeting with Border Patrol’s Gloria Chavez, who was a key figure in Trump admin’s family separations. Emails show CBP leadership asked her for answers on 2017 pilot program and that she sparred with HHS about how to care for separated kids in 2018.
Chavez is currently the Chief Patrol Agent of the Border Patrol’s El Paso Sector.

24 more families deliberately separated at the border by the Trump administration were reunited by Biden administration and NGO partners last week.

As many as 2,100 remain separated, admin said earlier this month.
Here’s the statement, from task force ED @MichelleBrane.
37 separated families total have been reunited so far by the Biden admin and NGO partners, @MichelleBrane says.

NEW: 2,100 families separated by Trump admin haven’t been reunited, according to Biden admin. Hundreds haven’t been located. We joined nonprofit @SenecaFOA on their cross-country search as they went door-door-door to find them and offer mental healthcare.

NEW: More than 2,100 children separated by Trump admin 'have not yet been reunified,' Biden task force says. Only seven children have rejoined their families since Biden took office earlier this year, and 29 more will "in the coming weeks," per report. nbcnews.com/news/all/more-…
A senior DHS official, in a call with reporters, blamed “numerous errors and misinformation” in data kept by the Trump administration for the cumbersome reunification process. “No comprehensive interagency system was in place to separate parents and their migrant children."
“Would we have liked them to move quicker? Yes. Do they need to move at a much more rapid pace? Absolutely,” said @leegelernt of the ACLU. “Could it have been done with a snap of the fingers? No. It is complex.”
