How many corruption investigations are active/ongoing across the country right now?

Here are three GOP lawmakers in Tennessee who had their homes raided in January, two days after the insurrection.
And then there is the Joel Greenberg/Matt Gaetz/(Pirozzolo?) investigation which, in addition to sex trafficking, sounds like it may be diving into broader corruption in FL politics, and corruption in the cannabis/marijuana market.
There is an investigation into the massive, multimillion dollar bribery scheme around HB-6 in OH, which even involves a suspicious death by a former partner in FL (and I believe also has a connection to a GOP fundraiser in Kentucky).
There is an ongoing investigation into the V.C. Summer nuclear debacle that included SCANA, and potentially may touch the Dominion energy investment vehicle (Barr/Graham?).
Rudy Giuliani is under investigation for… well, being Rudy and everything that entails.

That includes his dirty activities with Ukraine and Firtash of course, but it appears that he is now also under investigation for lobbying on behalf of Turkey.

bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
Speaking of Firtash, Congress recently wrote to Blinken to ask that State press harder to complete his extradition from Austria.

(Before his work with Giuliani, Firtash was already facing charges for a bribery scheme involving Boeing, and bribing other countries for titanium).
There are at least six people being investigated in a bribery and racketeering case in L.A., including a City Council member and a former Deputy Mayor
Ken Paxton, Texas Attorney General, has been dodging indictments for five years for bribery and corruption, and more recently for procuring a government job for his lover.

Seven different whistleblowers against him have now been fired, resigned, or placed on leave.
On April 16, Garland reinstated a policy (that Jeff Sessions had repealed), allowing DOJ to investigate police corruption & civil rights abuses.

Within a couple of weeks, he had announced investigations into the Louisville & MN police departments.

usatoday.com/story/news/pol…
OR state Rep Mike Nearman, who opened the doors for right wing extremist “protestors” to enter the statehouse should be making his appearance in court… *checks watch* … today.
A lobbyist connected to IL House Speaker Michael Madigan, along with three others, were indicted for a bribery scheme to benefit ComEd.

Not sure if there will be any more charges in this case.
There is at least one active investigation into a scheme in FL to run fake “ghost candidates” to steal votes from Dems in state Senate races.
Those are the ones that we know about - and only the ones that I can come up with off the top of my head.

I’m sure there are quite a few more, and this doesn’t even include the hundreds of insurrection targets, or the election or NatSec investigations.

DOJ is busy.

Tomorrow (Jun 28), a new 3-part series about Ghislaine Maxwell begins airing on Sky in the UK: ‘Ghislaine Maxwell: Epstein’s Shadow.’

3 days prior, ABC aired their own special, which contained no new research/info, but gave Maxwell’s family and her lawyer a lot of free air time.
From the new UK series:

Ghislaine Maxwell began to share ‘little black book’ with Epstein as early as the 1980s

“New documentary reveals sex offender used socialite for access to her famous and rich friends years from the 1980s onwards”
The ABC special left viewers with the impression that Ghislaine listlessly hung about New York after her father’s death until she was introduced to Epstein, & projected her paternal relationship on him.

That story appears to be at odds with the evidence.

Since Jan 6, Koch Industries has been the top corporate PAC donor to the ‘Sedition Caucus.’

Despite a book and a WSJ interview in which Charles Koch claimed to “regret” partisanship, KochPAC has also donated $105,000 to the NRSC since Jan 6.

thebrick.house/koch-industrie…
KochPAC was also the largest corporate PAC donor in the 2020 election cycle, to the representatives and senators & their affiliated leadership PACs, who would go on to vote against certifying Biden’s victory.

opensecrets.org/news/2021/01/o…
Charles Koch’s political groups and family members donated more than $15 million to the 13 Senators who publicly stated that they would object to the certification of the 2020 election results.

Watch this video discussing Peter Thiel’s (and other billionaires’) abuse of our retirement vehicles as tax shelters.

Common decency defines this behavior elegantly: It is called cheating.

And yet, a sizable portion of our society calls it “brilliant.”

That is a problem.
Everyone knows there is a $6K contribution limit to these funds.

If someone realizes their IRA is effectively contributing millions to itself, shouldn’t they go ask a referee whether they are breaking the rules?

The financial system incentives say “No.”

In most jobs, from construction to HR to CyberSec to intelligence, if I make a material mistake, I’m required to report it - but it’s in my *self interest* to. A lie has a shelf life.

But in our financial system, lies compound interest.

The longer the lie, the more profitable.

Multi-story building collapse in Surfside, FL?

How does this happen??
Looks like footage of the building after the fact, from someone staying at the hotel next door…

How many people were inside?
CBS felt a need to take that guy’s video, remove everything he said in it that was pertinent, replace it with egregiously dramatic music, and put their logo on it.

Way to contribute. Spicing up that disaster for your audience. Congratulations.

Trial underway

Stephen Calk, CEO of Federal Savings Bank, gave Manafort $16M in risky loans, in exchange for a role in the Trump admin.

He never got the job, but he did get an interview to be Secretary of the Army.

Scaramucci testifies on Thursday.

The Mooch testified today that Manafort asked him to get Calk an interview for Army Secretary

“Anna Ivakhnik, a former [FSBank] employee, testified … on her concerns at the time about Manafort's loan application and financial position”

ICYMI, Kushner also helped push Calk’s interview for a position.

The exhibit shows the influence and relationship that Manafort had with Kushner at the time.

Doral, FL - The CEO of an armored transport company has been charged with facilitating a $140 million transnational illicit gold smuggling operation aimed at laundering cash with alleged ties to criminal activity.

The alleged gold smuggler’s company, Transvalue of Miami, received $406K in PPP loans.
To understand how illicitly (criminally) gained money is often laundered through gold, the Dirty Money series on Netflix is an excellent primer.

Here is one example:
