Finally ... finished my research report (well, at least the first draft for peer review) ... gosh, this has been a hard slog. Now playing catch up with everything I've missed.

... think about what makes a great football player. Behaviours or Technology i.e. can you buy a pair of football boots that will turn you into Ronaldo? That's part of the problem with IT, people keep thinking it's about technology ...
... alas, there is no AI or blockchain or big data or platform or whatever technology that you can buy, invest in or implement that will suddenly turn your company into Amazon. This is not how it works. You are focusing on the wrong thing.
Almost every day I have someone asking me what emerging technology they should focus on ... to which my response is that it doesn't matter. Your focus should be on emerging behaviours and practices that you need to develop, the technology is a side show to some extent ...
... you could swap the technology base between Amazon and some large bank and quite comfortably know that in less than a decade the bank would be looking at Amazon's technology base and going "we wish we had that". It's the behaviours enshrined in principles that matter.
